I have a Samsung S21 Ultra (Unlocked) from USA. I moved to Canada and am still using this phone. However, changing country on Samsung Pay is not possible unless you flash the firmware of the new region. Samsung Pay is locked to the country you purchase the phone in and doesn't let you add credit cards from another country without workarounds. For example, when you try entering a Canadian credit card on this US phone, Samsung Pay still asks you to enter the 5-digit numeric zip code of USA. Canadian postal codes are of the format "A1B 2C3". The only solution I found after reading forums online is to flash a Canadian S21 Ultra firmware and then use Canadian credit cards. Considering both USA and Canada have Snapdragon versions, this is not so difficult but still not a preferred path for most.
I found another easy way. Just go ahead and enter the Canadian credit card details. Use the numeric digits from your Canadian postal code and append two zeroes. Such as "A1B 2C3" would need you to input "12300". It then redirects you to Canadian bank T&C and once you agree to those, the cards are now added to Samsung Pay. Hope it helps anyone who has been looking for a solution to this.
TLDR; Use Canadian credit card in US-region locked Samsung Pay by appending two zeroes to the numeric digits from your Canadian postal code.
Note: Before trying this new solution, I had tried factory resetting the phone and even tried using a new Samsung account with a new email address. None of these "solutions" worked. I wasn't planning to flash the Canadian firmware as I was using eSIM and didn't want that to be erased.
Any fellow Canucks that can give me a heads up on which works best in Canada
I just bought a S22 Ultra in the US from Amazon.com and am finishing setting it up. Since it is American it has the newer Samsung Wallet app which I can't add my Canadian payment cards to because it is expecting a zip code (numeric) instead of a postal code. Is there a way for me to download the Canadian Samsung Pay app so I can continue using Samsung pay for purchases in Canada? I didn't get good google results for this so any help is appreciated. Thanks!
