Hey all! I'm currently looking into smartwatches and am debating between the S3, Galaxy Watch and a Wear OS device.

I looked at reviews and features between the S3 and WearOS watches. I own an S8 and I like the S3 due to S Health, Samsung Pay and the battery life being highly praised. The reason I like the WearOS devices is because of it's aesthetically pleasing look, customization and Google Assistant.

I'm willing to sacrifice the battery life if it's possible to get S Health and Samsung Pay on a WearOS smartwatch. Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it possible and if so are there any drawbacks to these apps due to them not being on their respective device?

Samsung Pay isn't available on WearOS, only Google Pay. There is no workaround for this unfortunately. The NFC API is open so other payment apps are possible in theory, but if you're hoping for MST, that's exclusive to the Gear watches.

Look into Health Sync to copy data between Samsung Health and Google Fit.

Anyone facing issues with using GPay on NFC on payment or public transit terminals? It's almost 50-50 chance of working at this point. I used to have 0 issues with my old Ticwatch E3's NFC, so it does look to be an issue with either my unit specifically or Ticwatch Pro 5 in general?

I noticed the same thing. Every time I use NFC anywhere, I have to touch the payment machine and even then, it only works sometimes. Needs a fix.

Hi all,

My Ticwatch Watch 5 Pro just arrived, and I am in the process of setting it up. Running into a few issues already with the

weather app failing to load
software update that seems to take forever and no indication as to when it will finish. It just says downloading update
Google Pay not being able to add any cards to the wallet despite working fine on my phone.

Not really sure what I can do to get these things working. The watch is connected to wifi and I am able to download apps from the playstore, so I don't think the wifi is the issue.

I'm not sure about the weather app and the google pay not working. But I had the issue with the update as well. What I did was leave it on the charger overnight. Once I did that the update went through. Not sure if it needed to be connected to the charger for the update or had to be at 100% but that's how I did it.

Update: Weather started magically working, and the update was also installed! Just gotta work on Google Pay now...

Yes, you don't need your phone nearby once it is set up. I have found it quite useful every now and then when I didn't have my phone on me.
