October 13, 2025 - In addition to the above scenarios, Samsung Pay can still be used with other non-Tap & Pay readers that accept contactless open loop payment cards, but they will have to be verified beforehand. These home locks & car models can be unlocked via NFC with select Galaxy devices running Android 12 & later for car keys, or Android 11 or later for home keys, most notably the Galaxy S20 or later. In addition, certain car models that support operation via UWB (AKA "passive entry") require an UWB compatible device, such as the Galaxy Z Fold2 & later, or Plus/Ultra models of Galaxy S21 & later devices, for enhanced functionality.

You actually don't need a Samsung phone. I installed the Samsung Pay watch plug-in and was able to add and verify two cards. Samsung Pay will only work on your watch though. More on reddit.com

r/GalaxyWatch on Reddit: Samsung Pay with non Samsung Phone
October 17, 2022 -

I just got a Watch 4 and was trying to figure out how to pay for stuff with it. I figured out that unlike on my phone, you actually have to have a pay app open on the watch for it to work (right?) and so it's good to have a quick shortcut to a pay app. And since the long-press back button is not (easily) changed from opening Samsung Pay, I figured I would just use Samsung Pay since I already use the double tap home button for something else.

But when I try to setup Samsung Pay on the watch and click on "Add Card" it tells me to "Check your phone" but nothing comes up on my phone. And if I try to add the Samsung Pay/Wallet app on my phone, then the Play Store says that app is not compatible with my Pixel 5a phone and won't let me download it.

Doing some Googling it seems like Samsung Pay recently dropped support for non-Samsung phones. https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-pay-doesnt-work-3178129/

So does this mean that the non-changeable long press back button is essentially broken now unless you have a Samsung phone? I hadn't seen this particular issue before on the lists of things that don't work with a non-Samsung phone (mostly they just talk about the ECG and blood pressure), so not sure if I'm just missing something to get Samsung Pay to work?

Edit: Got it to to work by searching for "Samsung Pay (Watch Plug-in)" in the Google Play store on my phone and clicking on "Open". For some reason the watch is not automatically bringing up that plug-in when clicking on "Add Card" on the watch. But by getting that app to open on my phone using the Play Store then I could add a card. It's a little weird because that "Samsung Pay (Watch Plug-in)" is not a selectable app on my phone, I can only open it by searching the Play Store for it on my phone and that store sees I already have it installed and so gives me the option to "Open" it.

r/SamsungPay on Reddit: Can I use Samsung Pay on another Android device?
December 18, 2024 -

Hello folks, I wanna know if I can use Samsung pay on other brands Android device, eg: MI or Vivo/Iqoo

I wanna store a Credit Card Card for making Tap payments.

Alternatively, is there any other wallet apps I can use for the same. P.S Google Wallet doesn't support adding Credit Cards at the moment.

I'm from India and limited Wallet features for India. Infact, I guess it doesn't even support ttp in India.

Any and every help is appreciated.
