The larger sensor provides a more shallow depth of field. Useful for bokeh shots and it'll have more details in low light. If you want more things in focus, you'll need to step back further away from the subject, or switch to the ultra wide sensor (that's smaller) and digitally zoom in a little. More on reddit.com

This is simply lazy app development and honestly Google should force app developers to use the range of api they provide. Many apps still capture the screen on android instead of directly accessing the camera, something that's been available since android 2.0. It's awful tech practice. Most app developers claim they record the screen as there are too many android configurations out there but this is just wrong. The direct access is perfectly fine to use as the api does everything it needs, they don't need to and never needed to capture the screen. Snapchat did change to using the api however they now run software alterations which reduces the quality to lower file size but it's awful compression so quality drops. Lazy coding. SnapChat, Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Instagram's in-app photo taking is the biggest gripe that people have with Android. There are some rumors that Android 11 itself or Samsung has fixed this issue with a more cross-platform/robust in-app camera API that developers will want to use.

You could literally have the best camera in the world but if some fucked up app developer like SnapChat decides to treat Android as trash, regardless of the quality of your camera, you will only get trashy images. Some app makers like to purposefully generate artificial social exclusivity about their apps thru this technique.

Of course, the solution is to take these photos from outside the app (I like to double-press the power button to launch the camera).
