Galaxy S21 5G, T Mobile to Consumer Cellular | Android Central Forum
Samsung S21 5G (Verizon variant on T-Mobile) much slower than iPhone 14
Starting with the S8/Note8, there were no longer carrier-specific models. Now, they're all carrier agnostic, with different software on whether it's carrier locked (ending -u) or unlocked (-u1).
If you received a VZW branded phone, then it's a -u. When you put your SIM in, it should have told you to reboot the phone, then it would boot with TMO's firmware.
I'm totally guessing here, but could it be that you didn't see the reboot notification, and you're running a speed test on Verizon firmware? If it's not that, then it could be that your modem is defective. I had the S21, and I was getting 300mbps+ speeds without issue.

I was impressed with my iPhone 14 speeds at my location (~500 Mbps).
Therefore, I wanted a device I could do ethernet tethering with. I picked up an unlocked Samsung S21 5G from Swappa. When it arrived it was Verizon branded.
When next to each other, the iPhone 14 Pro downloads at 500 Mbps. The Samsung S21 5G downloads at 20 Mbps.
Is this device missing a band? Any other device suggestions that would achieve the full speed and allow ethernet tethering?

Why not flash the stock rom for the phone, it's going to work perfectly fine without having a "T-Mobile brand", you will remove all traces of Verizon, and have a stock "clean" phone to work with.
I have an S21 I bought from someone but it's locked under T-Mobile. I'm not in the US nor do I have an account with T-Mobile. What options do I have to unlock this phone?
