Pretty much what the title says. Is anyone aware of such a list? I've been looking and struck out, so maybe we can make one in this thread. To be clear, what I'm looking for are phones that support HDMI (and other data formats) output over USB-C. Most wireless casting devices require that the phone and device be on the same wireless network, which is a problem if you are in an area with either no internet or internet too slow to stream. The only way I know of to use a phones unlimited data to stream and mirror on a TV without connecting both to a wireless network is to connect via a dongle and HDMI cable. Samsung phones support this, Google phones don't. For those of us who require this, what phones support this functionality? Does your phone support HDMI out over USB-C? Thanks.
The answer is yes.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, and my screen is also broken. I've been using my phone through Samsung DeX for the past 3 years with the screen broken.
You can get a Type-C to HDMI cable or a Type-C hub and connect your phone to an external monitor, and use your phone while the phone screen is broken.
Short answer... Yes, it can.
Yes, the Note 10 series does support video out to HDMI with a hub or a cable. I've been running DeX for almost as long as I've had this phone, using a three-ended cable. One end plugs into the phone's USB port, the second end plugs directly into an HDMI port on a TV, monitor, or a portable monitor, and the third end plugs into a wall charger via a USB-C port.
Regarding my phone's USB-C port, for the last 2½ - 3 years, I've had a 24-pin magnetic USB connector plugged into it so I don't have to keep plugging and unplugging it to and from its wired connection. I picked up a 2-pack of them on Amazon for like $15 or so, and the bit that stays in the phone also serves as a dust, debris, lint, or whatever else cover. Any time I want to use DeX, all I have to do is get the phone's base near the end of the cable, the two join together magnetically, then I switch my TV's input to that HDMI port, and I have my phone's desktop environment on my TV. I have a Logitech Pebble Bluetooth keyboard and mouse set paired to the phone, so as soon as I turn them on, I basically have a PC with its own internet connection.
I haven't had a landline based internet connection for 15 years if it's been a day (When I cut the cord, I REALLY cut the cord), so the TV is paired with the phone's hotspot, and every now and then, I switch it on, check for updates to the TV's software, as well as take advantage of some of its smart features.
Sportsnet casting to my tv is absolute BS so I want to use a USB c to HDMI setup.
I have an S23. Any recommendations on what the best adaptor or cable for this would be? Will they all be compatible with Samsung or do I need to look for something specific?
Looking to keep it on the cheap side but just don't want to order a $15 Amazon cable and have it not work.
