The population 'boom' in 2000, 2010 and 2020 (ie the census years) seem likely due to discrepancies in data, not actual huge changes in population those years.

This is missing the massive population drop when folks left the city during early Covid. You can see this drop in the World Population Review source you listed, which slows our 2023 population at 809K. Your graph shows around 880K for the same year, so that's off by a margin of around 10%. You also mention that your sources include projections. Are you aggregating actuals and projections together for some reason? Why would you use projections from past years when we have actuals to draw from? Whatever you did, it definitely looks wonky.
