It’s common once you get married and have kids to create a trust and put your assets under ownership of that trust once you create a will. It makes it easier to pass on ownership to your kids should something happen to the both of you. This has nothing to do with trust funds or boomers. A trust just makes it easier (legally) to establish ownership of assets between a couple. Edit: Ok, so trust and trust funds. Perhaps I shouldn't have said it has "nothing" to do with it. But the trust is the entity and the fund is a fund setup that the trust owns. What I was speaking to was the implications people were making when referring to "trust funds" in this thread regarding older people and/or wealthy people. My point is that anybody can setup a trust and married people with kids who are not old or wealthy commonly do so. More on reddit.com
