The Santander student account offers a Railcard - but no AER. If I open said account, then switched to (for example) TSB for 5% AER, will I still be able to use the Santander rail card?
So I was a first-year student and I opened a Santander Student Account solely for their railcard benefit. However, Santander took a while to open it after I initially applied for it so my parents just gifted me a railcard and I just left the account alone. I am now being emailed an alert about overdrafts.
I honestly just forgot about the existence of the card which is kinda stupid. I've never even seen the physical card or received the letter or any physical letters from Santander. In hindsight, I should've done something when there was no letter or card but I truly forgot about it.
I was sent an email yesterday about how I have an overdraft alert on this Santander student account despite never spending money on the account. I've never even got access to online banking or a card. I would like to check the account but the problem is I don't believe I've received a Personal ID and definitely do not have any card details. So there's no way to even log in. I tried calling customer service but the automated message told me to input my personal ID or card number on the keypad.
What do I do? It is difficult to do anything about getting into the account since I don't have a Personal ID or a card. I'm also worried that somebody else is using the account and spending the overdraft. I don't know how to go about this since the only thing to prove that the account is mine is my email, phone number and physical ID.
TLDR; I am getting overdraft alerts on my dormant Santander student account but can't even access the account because I never received the letter or card or personal ID.
