Sass: Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets
Sass is the most mature, stable, and powerful professional grade CSS extension language in the world.
Learn Sass
CSS on its own can be fun, but stylesheets are getting larger, more complex, and harder to maintain. This is where a preprocessor can help. Sass has features that don’t exist in CSS yet like nesting, mixins, inheritance, and other nifty goodies that help you write robust, maintainable CSS.
Install
The Sass team maintains two Node.js packages for Sass, both of which support the standard JavaScript API. The sass package is pure JavaScript, which is a little slower but can be installed on all platforms Node.js supports.

Sass - should I learn it now and what do we do with it?
Arguably, the biggest draw of SCSS/sass was that it added nesting and variables to css. But now vanilla css has nesting, and css variables are (IMO) far better than scss variables. It also provides mixins (portable styles you can drop in really easily) and functions, which are kind of helpful, and loops which are fun to play with but not very practical. I think the only reason to learn SCSS/sass nowadays is because companies will have it in their codebase. So spend a few days in a SCSS tutorial so that you get the gist, and then go back to vanilla css More on reddit.com

Sass: Sass Basics
Sass has two syntaxes! The SCSS syntax (.scss) is used most commonly. It’s a superset of CSS, which means all valid CSS is also valid SCSS. The indented syntax (.sass) is more unusual: it uses indentation rather than curly braces to nest statements, and newlines instead of semicolons to separate them.

r/Frontend on Reddit: Is it worth learning SASS/SCSS nowadays?
January 4, 2024 -

For context, I'm a junior in HS who has been learning web development over the past few months. I've managed to get a decent grasp on the fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JS) and also have utilized a few frameworks like Bootstrap in mock projects.

Here's the dilemma, I wanna move onto learning the backend soon but the course I'm following has a section for SASS/SCSS. I did some research into it myself, and I'm getting conflicting messages - some say SASS is being phased out, others say it's still worth learning.

So ultimately, should I spend time learning SASS/SCSS, or is it fine for me to move onto other things such as learning MongoDB and Node.js.
