Answer: One of the most interesting and the most frustrating things about Saved! is what it gets right and also what it get’s wrong. And it does get a huge amount wrong more than it get’s right. The version of Christianity in the story is a straw man acting as a Liberal punch bag to vent ...

Saved!
Dark comedy about religion has cursing, sex, drinking. Read Common Sense Media's Saved! review, age rating, and parents guide. The first thing teens figure out is that it's enticingly easy to make fun of believers in any category; what's nice about this movie is that it does so while still being entirely respectful of belief. Despite losing its punch in the latter stages, "Saved!" remains an enjoyable and viciously funny satire. Poking fun of judgmental fundamentalists really isn't that tough a task or groundbreaking. They tend to spoof themselves. But what writers Brian Dannelly (who also directed) and Michael Urban do is not ridicule the fundamentalists' beliefs but their awful behavior.

While the film’s message is being preached during a stand-off at the prom, the character Dean, home from rehabilitation, crashes the dance with his gay lover. Dean says emphatically, “I know in my heart that Jesus still loves me!” Young men and women may see “Saved!” and take away a message that Jesus accepts them despite whatever sinful actions they may choose.
