Ghosts with sheets are a pretty low budge but crowd pleasing option. One guy near us won the home of the season by doing that. A few floodlights can pretty inexpensively create a cool atmosphere. Lights on bushes are also a cool and relatively cheap option. Graveyards aren't hard. I like the cool designs on the foam ones most of the big box stores have, but a good wind will blow them away so I mount them to plywood. Plywood ghosts and bats are also pretty easy to do. If you need help with specifics let me know. Welcome to owning a home and having more flexibility! I was in a condo for a few years and the outside was limited to a few plastic skull and pumpkin path-lights, blow molds, and lights for the bushes. We've been in our house for about five years now and my display grows a bit each year. Have fun in the process! Answer from mrcmb1999 on reddit.com

Budget Outdoor Halloween Decorations
You’ll get the most bang for your buck if you DIY and use materials that can stand up to outdoor weather. Make your own scarecrow and have him dressed in Halloween colours! Chicken wire ghosts are always good too; there are tutorials on Pinterest. If you are handy with wood, make a couple of things out of plywood - keep it minimalist; it doesn’t have to be fancy. Spray some stencil designs on with spray paint. You could also make a Halloween countdown calendar for your front yard. Paint a piece of wood with blackboard paint, update the countdown with chalk each day and sit a jack’o lantern next to it. Or make a giant spider with chicken wire, black fabric and some pool noodles. More on reddit.com

My wife, kids and I recently moved from a condo in a large complex to a single family house. We've always done a lot to mark the spooky season, including a fair amount of indoor decorating, but we've never had much outdoor space to decorate. Our new place is on a corner with ample lawn and exterior windows suitable for spookification, as well as a garage for working on and storing larger decorations. With the expense of buying and moving into a new home, however, our Halloween budget will be pretty slim this year, so the 12 foot skeleton will have to wait. Can you guys throw out some of your favorite cheap and/or DIY outdoor decorating ideas? Thanks in advance!

You can get styrofoam balls and drape them with cheesecloth or a thin white cloth, and "paint" eyes with a sharpie. Hang with fishing line from your trees and they'll swing in the wind if they're light enough. You can also buy a few scary rubber masks and put them over a Styrofoam or light rubber ball to fill out the shape, and hang these or position them on a post with old clothes as a scarecrow type of thing. If you're not into hammer & nails type of stuff you can still make a scarecrow post by crossing one garden stake over another near the top and winding lots of twine around in an "x" shape, I'd still probably hot glue the twine though!

August 7, 2011 - Cut Light Scars: Look at your reference picture of the rope lighting placement and mark out the light scars. Cut out with a drywall saw. Remove additional foam inward at an angle until good light is showing. This is the horse's eye. Redirect Light: Had a problem with the eye placement and where the rope light was (didn't line up).

August 14, 2025 - These sweet little pumpkins would look magnificent as part of a Halloween display around your front door. Up the gore factor by decorating your doorstep with bloody candles that any vampire would love. These candles are shockingly simple to make, as you just need to buy a red candle and dribble the wax around the sides of some white candles. These candles would look fang-tastic unlit as part of an outdoor Halloween display.
