August 1, 2024 - Although it's not a perfect science, an options delta calculation can provide a pretty close estimate. In the Option Chain below, the underlying stock is trading around $132, so the 135-strike call is OTM, and its 0.22 delta implies it has about a 22% chance of finishing ITM at expiration. Another way of expressing this is to say the option has about a 78% chance of expiring worthless. But there's another way Schwab clients can estimate the chance of an option being ITM at expiration: the Probability ITM feature on the thinkorswim® trading platform.
Schwab StreetSmart - Trade & Probability Calculator Post Flash?
C'mon, Schwab, don't be lazy. The deprecation of Flash has been going on for more than a year. Even my bank was able to remove all the Flash stuff from their website and they never fix anything.
Maybe it's the merger with TDA to blame? Instead of fixing the web site, they were busy figuring out how to steal tos?

The order page isn't programmed to take your other, already existing positions (like owning 100 shares) into account and consider them as one position. It's showing you max P/L of selling a call in isolation. If you had no other positions and sold a call short, max loss would be unlimited. More on reddit.com

You probably missed a split. 1120/35 is 32, which is 25, so 5 splits of 2:1 would work. Pull up a stock chart on Google or a stock app, and compare the price of a share around your purchase date to the price today, and work out how many of today’s shares you should have based on your purchase amount. Closing early before expiration is the only true way to avoid this scenario from happening. People say strategies are “defined risk,” but fail to add the disclosure of “as long as you’re not assigned on the short leg.” Anything that happens after you’re assigned on a short leg can have potential to exceed the max loss especially since you won’t get notified of the assignment until the next day which by then you can’t even exercise the long option to offset the assignment. Schwab doesn’t automatically exercise for you the long leg because the brokerage houses actually do not know which customers (if any) get assigned either since the selection of who gets assigned is completely random. StreetSmart has an incredibly useful visualization tool that lets you see the profit and loss zones of options trade using live data. However, Flash has been recently eliminated on the web as a while, and so while this tool still exists, there is no longer the visual component to it. Does anyone know if there are plans to replace it with someone else? I use the web browser to make trades. Thanks

I've just learned about covered calls and I was curious to experiment with selling them. I have 100 shares of PFE in a Schwab brokerage account so I thought I'd explore the possibilities. When I looked at Schwab's "Trade & Probability Calculator", it calculates the maximum loss as "Unlimited".
Surely the maximum possible loss from selling a covered call isn't unlimited, right? If Pfizer suddenly evaporates and PFE shares are worth $0, I've lost my investment, but there's a clear limit. The shares can't go lower than $0, right?
If PFE takes off, I've missed out on some gains, but that's an opportunity cost, not quite the same as a loss.
If my goal is to sell a covered call against my 100 shares of PFE, have I chosen an incorrect input somewhere along the way?

Your proposed transaction isn't "covered"; you're selling a call, and have no control over how far up the underlying might go. Yes, the resulting position will be covered, but the transaction calculator doesn't know that. You can enter it as a buy-write to see better numbers, but that won't let you set the limit on the stock to your current basis.
