Then if that doesn't work then you may need a replacement control box or power cord.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Need Help Finding Compatible Adjustable Bed Replacement Remote
March 30, 2024 -

I purchased this Classic Brands Adjustable Bed Frame but unfortunately broke the original remote it came with (which looks like this). Naturally this happened with the legs inclined so I'm now sleeping with my legs up. I found and purchased this remote from eBay due to the listing description and similarity to my original remote but the remote does not pair (instructions I followed).

The wireless control box that pairs with the remote is model KDDY109A-001 from Kaidi Electrical Inc. I reached out to Kaidi's customer service but haven't received a response. I found this Amazon listing for a remote that says it's compatible with control box KDDY109 but I'm not clear if that also means KDDY109A-001.

I'm desperate to find a replacement remote ASAP. Anyone know how I can track one down and confirm compatibility prior to purchase?

r/homeautomation on Reddit: how to convert an old adjustable bed base into smart?
February 14, 2022 -

I have an adjustable base for my bed but it came with an non-smart controller. Just a simple IR remote controller with 4-5 functions. Any brilliant ideas to turn it into a smart controller that can be controlled with smartphone. I have very basic programming knowledge. I also have a raspberry pi that i use with 3D printer.

Thanks in advance.

On my adjustable bed base I have six buttons in total, head up and down, feet up and down, zero g and return to flat. In my case I’m really only interested in automating the zero G and the late flat buttons In this case, I have two solutions to automate this on a non smart bed base Simple noninvasive way; purchase a second remote for your bed base. Then purchase a couple of smart switch bot button pushers. You can 3-D print a holder that will hold the remote and the switch box or use 3M double-sided tape if you have room on your remote. Invasive way ; purchase a second remote and disassemble the remote all the way down to the control board. Find the soldering connections that will close the contacts when the desired button is pushed. Solder two wires from each of the two terminals and purchase a smart relay end switch. The Relay will close the contacts as if the button was pushed when it receives signal from your phone or smart home. I know this isn’t an ideal way to do this, and there may be better options but this way will not require any programming skills. Just configure the switch bot or smart home relay in the app and label it as the button it is pressing. Hope this helps and if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them and let me know if you try this method !

r/amazonecho on Reddit: Alexa control of adjustable bed

My adjustable bed has an RF remote, so I figured an RF blaster that is Alexa capable should allow me to control it, but the blaster makers (Bond, Broadlink) say no. Any ideas? I've got 30+ years of IT experience, but this kind of stuff is completely new to me.

That is a lovely project! You can do it using Raspberry PI. You have two problems to solve. Communication between RPI and your bed through RF. Communication between Alexa and your RPI For the first one I would check what frequency your bed is using for RF. Most likely it is 433Mhz. If you are lucky and they do use 433Mhz you can get 433 Mhz RF transmitter and receiver and hook it to RPI. This way you can copy the RF codes the remote is sending. You simply enable receiver, and press buttons on remote one by one and save codes as strings. There are python libraries for that. Be aware that you might be out of luck because your bed might be using other frequency or the codes that is sending might be rolling codes (every time sends different code). In this case you would have to disassemble the remote and use relays to simulate button press (as dextersgenius already explained). As for easy communication between Alexa and RPI withou having to use Alexa Skills in the cloud you can install Ha-bridge ( https://github.com/bwssytems/ha-bridge ). It's a simple java program that simulates Philips Hue on your local network. The thing is you are limited to three words "On" ,"Off" ,"Dim". So you would say: "Bed On" to let's say adjust up, and "Bed Off" to adjust down. So what you need is: RPI RF Transmitter and Receiver or Relays Python for communication with your bed (send your RF codes or trigger Relays) Flask - python web server to setup triggering of above codes by using URL (http://rpi/bed_on , http://rpi/bed_off) Ha-bridge where you configure "virtual device" (your bed) and assign urls to trigger for "ON" command and "OFF". Once you have it all running you just tell your Echo to "find devices" and it finds "your bed".

When the PAIR button stops flashing, the LED light on the control box will stop flashing. Release the PAIR button. Step 4: Test all remote functions. If you are unable to adjust the base with your remote, please repeat the process again, or try the steps to disable Child Lock on the base because the remote may be locked.

The remote control for my adjustable bed has been wonky for several years. It started acting up less than a year after purchase. It's a basic, cheap remote probably made in the PRC Soochow Remote Factory #7. I looked up replacements and found them listed on eBay for between $350 - 400! They're also listed on furniture-focused website for similar. WTF?!
