The Recordings Division does not take research requests. For on-site document retrieval in Chicago, I recommend contacting Steven Wright (Your Chicago Ancestors) or Kim Stankiewicz (Chicago Ancestry). Both are experienced researchers who make frequent trips to Chicago-area archives to do client work. If you can't visit in person, you'll need to hire a local researcher. They don't offer searches by mail.

July 31, 2025 - As a courtesy, the Department of Revenue provides a list of links to the websites of county tax offices. If you encounter a problem accessing a website on this list, contact the office of the Board of Tax Assessors or the Tax Commissioner for that county. The Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for property valuation assessments of real and personal property, and the Tax Commissioner is responsible for the collection of ad valorem taxes.

Records can be retrieved by searching by address, PIN, grantor, grantee, and by other indexed detail.
