So trying to upgrade to windows 11. I had the error of no TPM 2.0 and secure boot disabled. So I went into the bios and got the TPM error to go away and also enabled secure boot. I had to disable the CSM to enable the secure boot but it wouldn’t boot windows with the CSM disabled so I turned it back on and was able to boot up fine.
The issue is that I am still getting the error that secure boot is the reason I can’t download windows 11. When I go to info I see secure boot state as unsupported. Not sure what to do from here. Not sure if the CSM being enabled is messing this up.
So I’m trying to upgrade to windows 11 and it saying that secure boot isn’t supported but I turned it on in my bios but it still didn’t fit the issue. I’ve tried looking online and watching videos and found that I need to change my boot drive from MBR to GPT but it’s not letting me and I don’t know if it’s because my disk 0 is dynamic or if that even matters, I just need help because this is really annoying me and I don’t know what to do.

Hello! First time on installing distro and it seems I want Pop OS as my first. So my question is what do I need when my old laptop BIOS Mode is "Legacy" and Secure Boot State is "Unsupported". Do I need to disable secure boot before installing Pop OS? When I boot into BIOS, I can't find the option to disable secure boot. Any solution or other steps to do? Thank you so much!
This is my old laptop: Lenovo IdeaPad 320 14ISk (i3-6006U)
EDIT: Solved now, I just set the "Legacy Support" to "UEFI" then Disbale Secure Boot and install Pop OS successfully
Hi so I built a custom pc very recently and everything is working great, I can play any game I want besides Valorant, I keep receiving the secure boot error. I have looked in my files and it said secure boot unsupported, ive gone through countless youtube videos, many different methods but nothing is working, my bios settings just says user next to secure boot. I even tried updating my mother board and trying to use the UEFI firmware settings but thats not there and the youtube tutorial I followed to fix that didn't work. Im at a dead end here and all I wanna do is play valorant with my buds but the secure boot error wont go away. Does anyone know what I can do here. (I have an Asus B450M-A II mother board btw)
Trying to upgrade to Windows 11. After constant troubleshooting, a clean install of windows 10 seems like my only option. My question is, do I have to create a windows 10 bootable falsh drive and upgrade from there. Or can I skip a step and install windows 11 boot drive? Note: I recently upgraded my motherboard/cpu and verified that is does support Windows 11.
You can skip that and make a Windows 11 boot drive that works if you download the ISO and use Rufus to make the bootable drive
You will also still have issues updating through the major Windows 11 updates though, there's other work arounds for it but it basically entails downloading the entire ISO each major update as well
You can also use the Windows Media Creation Tool which downloads Win 11 and creates the bootable flash drive.

Hi All,
I'm trying to update my 4-year old PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11. However, I'm unable to because Secure Boot is "unsupported". PC Health Check also says "This PC must support Secure Boot".
I'm not sure what I'm missing here.. Secure Boot is enabled in the BIOS, but it's greyed out, so I can't modify it. I've already tried disabling CSM, but my PC won't boot past the BIOS unless CSM is enabled. I also tried changing the Boot Device Control, Boot from Network Devices, Boot from Storage Devices, and Boot from PCI-E/PCI Expansion Devices settings from Legacy to UEFI-only, but the PC still won't boot past the BIOS screen. Any idea what I'm overlooking? I just need Secure Boot to be supported so I can update to Windows 11.
Below are some details that may help, please ask if you require anything else.
-
Launch CSM - set to Enabled
-
Boot Device Control - set to UEFI and Legacy OPROM
-
Boot from Network Devices - set to Legacy Only
-
Boot from Storage Devices - set to Legacy Only
-
Boot from PCI-E/PCI Expansion Devices - set to Legacy Only
-
Secure Boot state - set to Enabled (greyed out, unable to change)
-
OS Type - set to Windows UEFI mode
Thank you all in advance!
I am making my pc ready for a clean win 11 install.I have copied everything I wan to keep onto a portable hd and I am going to "clean" my 500gb SSD and add an additional 1TB SSD. I have an old HD with win 10 on that is going to go.I have fixed the TPM issue but system information say: Secure Boot State Unsupported.I have a Asus Rog Strix B450 F Gaming mbAnyone have any good links to solve this? (the ons I found, I found very confusing)
Can I enable secure boot prior to installing windows 11 in bios?
Hi, so i have been trying to get secure boot enabled on my PC, which has a Asus ROG strix b450-i motherboard. It now reads as Secure Boot State : On in the BIOS, but when I try to check system information it says secure boot is unsupported and PC health check says this as well. I installed the latest ASUS bios for my board just now, and a previous bios version 4502 said the PC would be Windows 11 ready by default, I just installed bios version 4602. TPM2.0 Is enabled as well. I just can't figure out why secure boot seems unsupported yet Asus lists this Mobo as windows 11 ready.
EDIT:: Make sure you have the disk volume for your installation as GPT and not an MBR, then changing all bios boot settings to UEFI. This was my problem, solved now.
Alright. I’m trying to download Windows 11. My pc won’t download it because I don’t have secure boot.
For context: My windows 10 OS was booted via USB back in early 2021. It’s BIOS mode is Legacy and Secure Boot State is unsupported. When I go into BIOS and switch from “other OS” to “Windows UEFI” it doesn’t boot from the windows SSD. Once I save these settings in BIOS my used SSD to boot my OS disappears. It doesn’t boot normally until I switch it back to “other OS”. Is there an easy way to go about this?
I haven’t seen this solution posted before.
The answer to the “secure boot is disabled” is actually as simple as enabling secure boot. However if you just enabled it through BIOS, are on windows 11 and do not have a brand new motherboard model then windows will not allow you to enable secure boot even though it says enabled on the BIOS.
I followed the instructions from the website below ————————————————————— CHECK SECURE BOOT:
-
Press Windows image + R keys to open the run command box.
-
Type msinfo32 and click OK to open System Information.
-
On the System Information page, check the BIOS Mode and the Secure Boot Status.
If BIOS mode is set to: UEFI Secure Boot status set to: Off
proceed to the steps below ———————————————-
Part 1. Enable Secure Boot in BIOS/UEFI. Activate Secure Boot in UEFI Firmware settings from Windows RE.
-
Hold down the Shift key and from the Power icon image select Restart to boot your system in Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
-
Then select Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> UEFI Firmware Settings and select Restart.
-
Navigate to the System Configuration tab, select Boot Options.
-
In Boot options, Change Secure Boot and select Enabled.
-
Save and Exit from BIOS Settings.
and while a bit technical it should end up working. https://www.wintips.org/fix-secure-boot-unsupported-or-unavailable/
