Ex Vespera owner here. Got to say it's a great bit of kit, but it does have some major downsides compared to the Seestar. First off its super heavy so there is no chance of polar alignment with it and carrying it around with you to go places you do feel the difference. Battery life is not the best either. Transferring data is done via Wi-Fi and can take hours to transfer to a PC. There is no third party software that you can use with it unlike the Seestar. You have to buy your filters separately for the Vespera. Who knows how long it will be until the S50 Pro comes out (If it does they might create something like the S70 next), The Dwarf 3 has a good few years left in it, yet before they bring out something new. Vespera II vs Seestar S50 Review – Wido's AstroForum
The Vaonis Vespera II is a quadruplet ... is the camera sensor. Seestar S50 boasts a 2-megapixel Sony IMX462 camera sensor (1080×1920), whereas the Vaonis Vespera boasts a newer and larger Sony IMX585 8.3-megapixel camera sensor (3840 x 2160)....

Buy the Vespera 2 Pro or wait for the Seestar s50 Pro/Dwarf4?

Seestar S50 vs Vespera
Specification wise, same: both come with IMX462 both 50mm apertrure Different SeeStar is F/5 while Vespera F/4 (giving slightly larger FOV). Vespera costs 3 times more SeeStar has loooong waiting list to get one Vespera weights x2 times more Software? Who knows I think the biggest difference that if SeeStar is indeed as good as advertised than it is actually very affordable system combining: tracking mount + 50mm APO + IMX462 + ASIAir. You can't build such a setup for $500 by any means. While Vespera does not provide real cost benefit over custom rig since you can build the rig cheaper or at least for about the same price but way more flexible and easy to upgrade according to your needs. But last but not least you can't really get a new SeeStar quickly since their waiting list is quite a long. More on reddit.com

Any "do-it-all" kits better than the Seestar S50?
There's better ones like the Vespera. And the Vespera Pro is coming out next year. But they cost quite a bit more. You get more, but you'll be paying at least three times as much. When it comes to "bang for the buck", I think the SeeStar is the best. I mean, $500 is a great price for something that comes with built-in light filters, a solar filter, decent tripod, and a good protective case. And shipping is included! I'm not sure how they're keeping it so cheap. More on reddit.com

r/seestar on Reddit: Buy the Vespera 2 Pro or wait for the Seestar s50 Pro/Dwarf4?
May 1, 2026 -

I'm torn between getting one now or wait for the S50 Pro.

Any opinions? Do you expect it to be far below Vespera in terms of potential? I guess at least the price will be way better, but it might take until end of year for it to come out.

Also other recommendations or "news" are welcome. Maybe the Dwarf 4, but afaik that one is not even announced.

Btw: I know you guys have a bias, but that's welcome! 😄

Comparing SeeStar, Vespera, and Dwarf2 - Page 6 - Smart Telescopes - Cloudy Nights
December 17, 2023 - If you truly are looking for which one is better for the live image (without entering stacking mode or saving pictures). then note that the Vespera really doesn't do pure live image display. It only takes and saves pictures and shows you what it is taking. Even for solar and the moon, you are seeing the individual pictures it is taking and storing. Both the Dwarf2 and SeeStar offer a live image without actually taking (and saving) pictures.

r/astrophotography on Reddit: Any "do-it-all" kits better than the Seestar S50?
December 28, 2023 -

I've always been interested in astrophotography and have 2 reflector telescopes. A 114mm that is used more frequently, and a 10" that I bought a few years ago with the idea of using it for photography. After a lot of research, I'm so intimidated by the idea of buying all of the equipment and mounts that I think I'd be better off selling the 10" and just getting an all-in-one setup. I like the Seestar S50 but it has its own faults and shortcomings. Is there something better that I should be looking at? I searched the sub but didn't find any similar posts. Thanks in advance.
