Ex Vespera owner here. Got to say it's a great bit of kit, but it does have some major downsides compared to the Seestar. First off its super heavy so there is no chance of polar alignment with it and carrying it around with you to go places you do feel the difference. Battery life is not the best either. Transferring data is done via Wi-Fi and can take hours to transfer to a PC. There is no third party software that you can use with it unlike the Seestar. You have to buy your filters separately for the Vespera. Who knows how long it will be until the S50 Pro comes out (If it does they might create something like the S70 next), The Dwarf 3 has a good few years left in it, yet before they bring out something new. Vespera II vs Seestar S50 Review – Wido's AstroForum
The S50 has a built-in duoband light pollution filter, and the standard package includes a solar filter without additional costs. Looking at the telescope optics – both the Seestar S50 and the Vespera II are apochromatic refractors with a 50mm aperture and 250mm focal length.

r/seestar on Reddit: Buy the Vespera 2 Pro or wait for the Seestar s50 Pro/Dwarf4?
May 1, 2026 -

I'm torn between getting one now or wait for the S50 Pro.

Any opinions? Do you expect it to be far below Vespera in terms of potential? I guess at least the price will be way better, but it might take until end of year for it to come out.

Also other recommendations or "news" are welcome. Maybe the Dwarf 4, but afaik that one is not even announced.

Btw: I know you guys have a bias, but that's welcome! 😄

ZWO SeeStar S50 Smart Telescope Review & 2025 Showdown with Vespera, eQuinox & More
When comparing the SeeStar S50 to its peers, the old adage “you get what you pay for” holds true to an extent – more expensive models like the Vaonis Vespera II and Unistellar eQuinox 2 deliver higher resolution and deeper exposures, thanks to larger optics and sensors (and correspondingly larger price tags).

r/astrophotography on Reddit: Any "do-it-all" kits better than the Seestar S50?
December 28, 2023 -

I've always been interested in astrophotography and have 2 reflector telescopes. A 114mm that is used more frequently, and a 10" that I bought a few years ago with the idea of using it for photography. After a lot of research, I'm so intimidated by the idea of buying all of the equipment and mounts that I think I'd be better off selling the 10" and just getting an all-in-one setup. I like the Seestar S50 but it has its own faults and shortcomings. Is there something better that I should be looking at? I searched the sub but didn't find any similar posts. Thanks in advance.

September 19, 2025 - For beginners seeking an affordable and easy-to-use option, the ZWO SeeStar S50 is an excellent starting point. If portability and versatility are key criteria, the DwarfLab Dwarf 3 offers a compact solution with interesting features. For those ready to invest more in advanced features and better image quality, the Vaonis Vespera II and the Unistellar eVscope 2 are options to consider.
