Hello!
First time poster here. My partner will be bringing me as his plus one to one of his close friend’s wedding in New Mexico this January. He’s chosen as one of the groomsmen. I don’t want to be too overdressed nor underdressed as this will be my first time meeting this group of friends of his. The attire is semi formal & all colors are welcome. The wedding party will be wearing green/sage green colors. I don’t know if it’s smart to wear the same color as them but I’m leaning towards that just to narrow down my choices, or else I’ll probably opt for black or brown. These are my choices so far. Please let me know what you think. I would really appreciate some (kind) advice.

My husband and I are super casual people who don't own any fancy clothes. We have a friend's wedding coming up at the end of December and the DC is semi-formal, after googling what that looks like, we still are at a loss for what to wear. I have a sweater dress with a belt that I can wear with black leggings but I'm not sure if that's too casual. Budget is tight right now so we'll likely be looking at thrift stores for outfits but not sure what kind of dresses to look at or if he should wear vest, no vest, suit.... Any help would be highly appreciated!!

Semi formal is flexible, if you’re not looking to purchase any new pieces, a sweater dress will work though pair it with hose versus leggings and a nice pair of heels. Your husband should wear dress pants with a button down and blazer and/or tie, if he has those, along with a pair of loafers or oxfords. A nice sweater or sweater vest would work too instead of a blazer.

I’d go for a mid-length dress that’s one step fancier than a sweater dress, with nice shoes (heels or flats). I’m struggling to find a dress for a wedding coming up in late October. The dress code is Semi-Formal, and unfortunately that’s all that their wedding page says. I asked my friend who is the brides maid of honor, and she said “it should be floor length or close to it, but nothing crazy”. So that’s all I have to go on. I know it will be in a 1930’s train station, so it seems that the environment will be a bit moody when it gets dark. So maybe something of a darker color, like a maroon. As for what I would like in a dress, I have a bit of a tummy, so nothing too skin tight, although I can wear shape-wear. Don’t want to cover my chest entirely, but I also don’t want it to be too much. I’m also 5’3, so hopefully something that would help me look a little taller with heels lol. Any help is appreciated!

Late October in a moody old train station sounds so pretty. i’d lean into a darker jewel tone like maroon, deep green, or navy in a soft fabric like satin or chiffon with a flowy skirt. for something tummy-friendly and flattering for your height, I’d suggest an empire waist or a defined waist with an A-line or bias-cut skirt. a v-neck or square neck would be great to balance the chest without feeling too exposed. since you’re 5’3, definitely use petite filters if you’re shopping online so floor-length doesn’t turn into a tripping hazard. I’m around your height and shape, and i ended up renting a couple of options from Rent the Runway for a similar fall wedding. it was nice to try out different silhouettes without having to commit to buying something i’d only wear once.

As the title says, I am a guest for a formal wedding this December in New York. I am terrible at clothes shopping, I don’t have a fashion bone in my body. New York State or New York City? What kind of venue? Either way you’ll want a floor length gown for a formal wedding. Think elegance. Jewel tones will work well for winter, maybe emerald, burgundy or navy. Most venues will have a place to check your coat, but you can check with the venue ahead of time to find out.
