How many years experience translates to junior-intermediate-senior positions?
Depends on the company really. Some places will call someone senior sci/geo/eng with 3-5 years of experience. In my opinion those places have poor retention and over title people instead of paying them. Generally, I think there is a pretty decent shift at 5-8 years which I'd consider mid-level and then another at 10-15, where I'd consider someone at a senior level. It comes down to what is expected of you and how complex of a project delivery you can handle. I think people lose sight of the fact that an average career is 40ish years long, so a 15-year senior person is not the same as a 35-year one. More on reddit.com
