With one of my cards I ran into that when I didn’t have the bank app installed and logged in on my phone. Not sure how that has anything to do with it, but maybe try that? More on reddit.com

99% of the time use my phone rather than watch. Primarily because it’s it my hand already - I use my local grocery store’s app for a shopping list. Now if Apple notes came to the watch I wouldn’t need my phone in my hand for my shopping list at some stores like Costco. I thought I would use my watch more to scan into the gym, but the app I use to track my workouts is phone only so I can’t leave my phone at home or in the car. More on reddit.com

Often when I pay via my Apple Watch, the person behind the counter will be delighted to see it, telling how cool that is. About half the time, I point and say, “The Apple Watch you’re wearing will do this too!”
I am surprised at how many people don’t set up and use Apple Pay on the Watch. It’s very simple and much easier than digging out one’s iPhone or wallet.

I can understand when the watch first came out. Maybe they don’t know a lot of people with the watch? I get comments like this too and I think it myself it’s 2025. I do get annoyed when they don’t take Apple Pay because then I have to dig for my card.

So... I bought an used Apple Watch Series 3 and the watch is perfect, but, the Wallet don't add cards to be used for Apple Pay.
When I try to add an card, this error appears: "Could not set up Apple Pay. An error occurred while setting up Apple Pay.*".*In my original language (Brazilian Portuguese): Não Pôde Configurar o Apple Pay. Ocorreu um erro durante a configuração do Apple Pay.
The Apple Care support don't know why this is happening and how to fix that. They think that "maybe" is a hardware problem. Conclusion: they can't and don't know how to help me.
(I already did the unpair, system restore... Nothing works).
Anyone know how can I fix that problem? 😥

Are you trying to add directly in the watch app? If so, is the card already added to the wallet on your phone? If not try do that first so the cards are in both wallets.
