Was wondering how it makes sense for companies like google to lay people off and then give them 2 years worth of severance. Is it really economical? Trying to understand the business perspective of doing this.
Laid off by a tech company in the Bay Area after 5 years as a senior software engineer. The offer includes:
-
10 weeks of pay, plus an additional 2 weeks for each year of service
-
Payment for all unused PTO
-
6 months of extended healthcare benefits
Offered a severance for 8 weeks of paid leave, 3 months of benefits.
I posted last weekend about retaliation from my paternity leave and things have escalated. Meeting with HR tomorrow for my final day, I assume.
Looking to negotiate and settle with the company. Is the offer they gave reasonable for 4 years in the company or should I expect more?
Leaving 50-60k on the table in June. So the 8 weeks of pay doesn’t even come close to covering that.
