Could only afford the pillow cases but they are by far the silkiest and smoothest cotton I’ve ever touched not just slept on.
I’m curious to try the full set of Giza 45 luxe sheets which is over 10k for a set
I’m considering buying their giza 45 sateen duvet cover/bed sheet. I’m wondering what everyone experience has been like since the things available online are very mixed. Some say their giza 45 series is very thin and terrible value while others praise it for being the best bedding they’ve ever felt. I’m wondering how much of those claims are true.
Any insights are greatly appreciated!!

Is the Sateen going to be too hot in the summer?
Anyone have samples I could get?
I shopped around for luxury brand sheets last year and I had a lot of hesitation and went back and forth on buying them, so I thought I'd share my experience for those thinking of purchasing these expensive sheets.
I ended up purchasing both Sferra Finna and Sferra Giza 45 percale. The Sferra Finna were disappointing. While they are very comfortable, I did not find them much more comfortable than my Egyptian cotton sets from L.L Bean (although I've had some major quality control issues with LL Bean that make me wary of ever buying them again). I definitely do not think they are worth 3x the price.
However, after being skeptical of other reviews, I have to say that the Giza 45 sheets are on a different level and by far the most comfortable sheets I've ever had. They are silky smooth while still being very breathable. They are so comfortable, any other sheets I sleep with, including the Finnas, are noticeably less comfortable. I ended up buying another set, because they're just that good.
For those who can afford the $1000+ price tag, I definitely recommend the Giza 45s. However, I still think that my Egyptian cotton sheets from LL Bean are very comfortable and for those looking for something less expensive I would recommend them over the Sferra Finna's just because of the price alone.
I'm currently eyeing the St Geneve Giza 45 sateen sheets and I'm trying to compare them with other luxury bedding brands like from Sferra, Matouk or Frette. I’m curious about the Sferra and Frette Giza line since they seem comparable but are much more expensive than the St Geneve sheets. There’s also the Matouk Gatsby line that is percale cotton that seems great as well. In addition, I’m unsure if their slightly lower offering (Sferra Milos and Frette 600TC sateen sheets, Matouk Nocturne) is comparable to the St Geneve Giza 45.
I'm unfortunately only able to get swatches for the Sferra Giza and St geneve Giza so I’m not able to compare them all well. If anyone has tried the St Geneve Giza and compared them to the others or found something better, can you let me know?.
Hi bedding people! I recently bought Sferra Celeste percale sheets, they arrived last week. I bought them from Bloomingdale’s, so I know they are authentic. I washed them according to the instructions, put them on my bed, and well… they don’t feel any better than my Brooklinen percale sheets. In fact I think they feel less smooth. Am I judging them too soon? Do they need a few washes to feel better?
Looking to get a quality sheet collection and after some research I’m set on getting one of these two. Hoping to get some opinions/feedback from those of you who have any experience with these, and which you think I should get. I’ll mention that Im a very hot sleeper so temperature control/cooling would be a big plus. Thanks!
Hello can’t some point me in the right direction about Sferra sateen sheets. Which ones are the best. I know the Giza 45 are good I wanted to know what other sheets they have that are just as good like finna, giotta, etc…..
I am trying to create the perfect bed for me and my wife. I just bought a new California King mattress (and an Eight Sleep Pod 3 cover for temperature regulation) and am now considering bedding. My wife and I both like a cool/crisp bed, cold room, and warm blankets or covers. Here is what’s in my shopping cart at the moment (essentially all Sferra):
Sferra Giza 45 Percale pillowcases, shams, fitted and flat sheets, and duvet cover; enough for two sets to alternate when laundry is necessary
Sferra pillow protectors
2x Cornwall medium density down pillows (European white goose, 900+ fill power, 345TC 100% German-woven cotton batiste)
2x Cornwall firm density down pillows (same stats)
1x Cornwall medium density duvet (same stats)
This is a very expensive purchase obviously and I’m nervous to pull the trigger. A few questions for the knowledgeable patrons of this wonderful sub:
While I understand the Sferra Giza 45 are endgame linens, is it worth buying the down pillows and duvet from Sferra? Can I receive the same or better quality elsewhere for less?
We currently have old Ugg poly fill pillows (that we actually really liked and were very soft). Given that we like cool sleeping surfaces (thus the Percale), are down pillows even a good idea? If we liked the polyester fill, which I believe would also be highly insular… perhaps we would be okay with down?
How do I consider which density to use for the pillows? I used St Geneve’s link here (https://www.stgeneve.com/how-to-choose-a-down-pillow) but I am not 100% sure. I am frequently a side sleeper and I believe my wife is as well which according to this link means we should do medium or firm, but the poly fill pillows we have are fairly soft I think. At first I intended to get 2 medium density pillows for us both but given the St Geneve link above, I decided on 1 medium and 1 firm. Does anyone prefer soft density down? Am I wrong about my decision here and should I do 1 medium and 1 soft?
Also regarding the pillows, given this is such a pricey purchase already, should I spring for the St Geneve Eider Luxe pillow instead? I read this is the “best pillow ever” by some in this sub. How significant is the difference between the Eider Luxe and a fine down pillow like those listed above?
Finally, what about the duvet? I was thinking perhaps medium density would be a good “all weather” duvet (is that true?) but I also mentioned we don’t like to be hot when we sleep. Keep in mind we also have the EightSleep in the equation… Given we can control the temperature of the bed, should we opt for a lighter duvet or a heavier one? (Or the medium?)
Thank you all for any assistance you can provide! This is a very big purchase for us so it will be very much appreciated!
Took my new sheets out of the package and they were silky smooth. I washed and dried them according to the instructions and as soon as I took them out of the dryer they’re so rough! All the softness that they came out of the original packaging with is gone. Is this normal? Help please! Sferra Giza 45 sateen sheets
I’m considering making the jump to luxury linens & big fan of matte, crisp, soft percale sheets. I’m open to the investment if high-quality, durable, machine washable, minimal to no ironing, feels great first use & gets better year after year (like me LOL) Hoping for at least 8-10 yr useful life, used daily & washed weekly. Need deep fitted sheet that’s easy to put on and doesn’t slip off while sleeping. No sateen, bamboo or blend that has a slick or dampish feel. Live in east cost Florida town where it’s always hot & humid. 90+degrees & afternoon rain 80% of the year. Researching Matouk, Frette & Sferra so far. Finding tremendous price differences and offerings even within each luxury linen line.
There are no luxury linen stores nearby. Before making the journey to one, I’m trying to do my homework on quality, value, longevity, durability, owner feedback and questions to ask the sales person. I don’t want to be pressured into a decision because I feel like I’ve taken up too much of their time or have to make the long drive multiple times. ~$1,000 budget for set..fitted, flat, 4 pillowcases all King.
Looking for feedback on brands & product lines recommended and avoid based on my requirements. If you know of unbiased websites that do a fair comparison or review, please share. I understand linens are a very personal preference, but I’d like to know if you made the jump to luxury bedsheets & if you believe it’s worth the investment. If not, what brand & line do you recommend? If you made the investment and then later regretted it, why? Thanks.
I have received my swatch samples from Sferra and will rate these from least to most smooth. I determined this by sorting them blind and using only feel. I also have measured the thread count for the percales. They mostly feel the same when draped over the arm, so the differences aren't all too different.
Giza 45 Percale: Feels almost exactly like the Lyric swatch from peacock alley. Both are equally shear. This is surprisingly the roughest of the Sferra swatches. Measured TC: 258(114+144).
Grande Hotel Percale: Softer and more smooth than the Giza 45 Percale. Measured TC: 204(90+114).
Fiona Sateen: Smoother than Grande hotel, but only in one weave direction. It feels about the same as the virtuoso from peacock alley.
Celeste Percale: Extremely smooth, about as smooth as the fiona sateen. Measured TC: 208(110+98)
Giotto Sateen: Much softer than the fiona sateen, but a little smoother than the celeste percale. There was a minor jump in smoothness, likely due to the fact that the Celeste and the Giotto were made of extra long staple cotton. Peacock alley Soprano is smoother and softer than this swatch.
Giza 45 Sateen: Not only extremely smooth, but extremely soft as well. This pretty much feels as smooth as silk. I would put Peacock Alley's Soprano sateen right under this swatch in terms of both softness and smoothness levels.
Overall, the lower end percales from Peacock alley do feel rougher than any of the percales in the Sferra line. However, differences overall(with the exception of the Giza 45 Sateen) are relatively minor, as all of them drape the same on the arm. I think if you want softness and coolness on a budget, Lyocell/Cotton blended sheets are probably the best value for comfort. They are as soft, but not as smooth, as Giza 45 Sateen in my opinion.
These two sheets are often referred to as the two best bed sheets on the market. So I figured I’d try both and see if they live up to the hype.
Matouk Gatsby: This is by far the nicest sheet set I’ve ever slept on. I don’t think I’ll ever sleep on anything else. The Gatsby uses Giza 87 cotton apposed to Sferra using Giza 45 which 45 is supposed to be higher quality cotton. Giza 45 is a slightly finer fiber.
However, I preferred the 87 more. I will say it wasn’t until the 4th wash until the Gatsby sheets completely changed for the better. They feel like your 5 star hotel sheets. Crispy percale yet incredibly smooth and soft. To be able to perfectly match crisp with soft is difficult but these do that well. They have a smooth buttery, oily, silky type feel to it while maintaining the thicker percale texture. By far the nicest sheets I’ve ever owned.
Sferra 45 percale: I was a little disappointed with these sheets. They were supposed to be the #1 sheet in the world. But I like the Gatsby more. To be fair, I’ve only washed these once. The Gatsby took 4 washes to break in. They initially felt so soft but almost like a fake soft. They didn’t feel like cotton. More like a polyester/spendex slippery soft apposed to matouks buttery oily soft. My guess is that the more I wash it the less it’ll feel like polyester and crisp up. The biggest complaint I have is how thin they are. The fitted sheet is almost useless because you can feel the mattress protector fabric underneath. They are soft but just too thin for me. Again, my opinion might change on these the more I wash them.
Overall, the Matouk Gatsby are slept on. (Pun not intended). Seriously some of the nicest sheets ever and I’ve slept on close to 60 sheets over decades trying to find my favorite bedding setup.
If you can’t fork up the kidney for these sheets Hudson Park* is an honorable mention.
I currently have LL Bean Heritage flannel sheets which I have been using in the winter months. I am looking to branch out and get some quality sateen sheets to add to my rotation. I understand that sateen is warmer than my percale summer sheets - but what can I expect for a comparison to flannel sheets? I would expect that Sferra Giza 45 would be more “luxurious” than flannel, but maybe not as practical for a cold winter. I tend to sleep hot so prefer percale for the summers.
So it is worth buying quality sateen sheets or do you think I should just stick to my flannel sheets?
Hi all! I’m getting super confused and maybe I don’t need to be, hoping someone here can help me out.
So I know percale best, and sferra for example has 4 different “levels” with different names. Ex) I have the Celeste duvet and Giza pillowcases and sheets. But I’m too afraid to use the Giza sheets bc of how expensive they were and how I’m not a fastidious person who wants to panic everytime I use a pen in bed or when my dogs skin tags burst.
I’ve been looking to add to my bedding and want to keep it more reasonable going forward bc that expensive bedding life anxiety isn’t for me at this moment in my priorities. I see many on eBay listed without the group names, no where visible on the packaging. The listings get as confusing as sferra’s and frette’s websites… Some are 600TC extra long staple cotton, some are 300tc long staple cotton percale. I don’t know how to compare any of them, or what the prices originally are because there’s no group/name to look up beyond the manufacturer. Is there a buying guide somewhere? Or a rule of thumb? Is it normal to have this many variations? Are they even real?
I already know to only buy the ones from Italy and that “at home” and casa Luna aren’t the same thing. I’d like a basic set of sateen and a basic set of percale.
I'm in the market for new sheets and I was thinking about going all out and getting either a set of the Sferra Giza 45 percale or sateen. I recently received some swatches from Sferra and both are very nice but given how thin the sheets are I am worried that they won't last too many washing cycles. The sateen seem a bit thicker (and also just a bit nicer overall) but I'd also be fine with the percale and would appreciate the lower price.
Can anyone here speak to the durability of either the percale or sateen?
No pets, children, etc. so no concerns about that and also assuming that I get two sets and rotate them out each wash (1-2 times a week). I'm not expecting them to last forever but if they tend to wear through in a year or two, I'm not sure if the premium price is worth it. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
From what I’m reading on this sub, Brooklinen sells crap, but markets it well. It makes sense, they have a lot of overhead. They can’t be giving me good value for my money…
But I don’t get it. I bought a sheet set from them back in 2019/2020 and I’ve used it 75% of the time since then. The set is still good (no thinning, ripping, and is still silky smooth and soft). It’s my favorite set of sheets. My other sheets are 100% cotton home depot, costco etc.
I have noticed the recommendations for Sferra. But $200 vs $800+ is a massive difference. I’m looking to buy a new (to add to brooklinens) set of sheets.
Any guidance? Price is not an issue but it still hurts to spend $1000 on sheets…
I was looking for a sheet and pillowcase set and saw a lot of people here recommending giza 45 (usually through sferra). I got a bunch of samples of:
Giza 45 Sateen
Giza 45 Percale
Giza 45 Luxe
Non-Giza 45 Percale
However, all of them seem to be scratchier and less soft than my current cheap microfiber sheets. I threw them in the wash once to see if it was a thing where they needed a wash cycle but it didn't make much of a difference. Am I missing something here?
This is what I have now:
