I’m trying to buy replacement brushes for model AV251WAYUS Shark, but I can’t find information about it. I can only find parts for AV251WAXUS. Does anyone know if they are the same? They look identical.

Unfortunately I can't speak to these specific models. In my experience with shark vacuums, they tend to change little things on their vacuums to make finding parts more difficult. The models will look essentially identical, but the parts will be just enough different to not be compatible. So definitely do your research and be careful when buying parts. I have ultimately given up on Shark for this reason and am switching to another brand. The wheels kept going out on my Shark vacuums and finding replacements is such a chore...

Curious how often everyone changes it and why and when to know if it needs changed?
I took a look on amazon for 3rd party replacements but they all seem to fail or have issues compared to the oem off shark and the one off shark is out of stock?
Any thoughts?

I just got off with customer service. I have to clean the roller pretty often but I have 2 cats. I called CS because it was making a horrible noise. After a video call he said to replace the roller. And new filters.

That’s a good question. I purchased an aftermarket kit containing a brushroll, all the filters, and side brushes off Amazon. Eifrthe 15-piece Shark AV2501AE... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKW5ZS8W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share It works. I don’t know how often it should be replaced. I thought I needed to change mine because I kept getting error messages that the brushroll was obstructed. In reality all I needed to do is clean out the roller end (the gray one). I couldn’t figure out how to get the end cap off, but it will pop off with the help of a screwdriver. I’m still using it and my spare is in a drawer. Lastly, I don’t know about you, but I find “self-cleaning” hilarious.
