r/VacuumCleaners on Reddit: Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty
October 13, 2024 -

I just bought one of these from Best Buy for an effective $360 ($400 sale and extra 10% cardmember appreciation). I hadn't seen many reviews on it, probably because it's so new, so I was nervous. No need to be nervous: it is amazing!

I thought all of the fancy Detect things would just be gimmicks, but they really do make a difference. Dirt detect helps battery last a lot longer; I vacuumed hardwoods and area rugs for over a half hour and it was flashing 1 bar of battery, but still going. Edge detect is incredible because it kicks on and really does pull in dirt off the baseboards in ways no other vacuum has for me. Even light detect is nice because the light is always on the show dirt in front of the vacuum, but light detect also helps light up the room if it is dark.

I've had two Shark Navigator LiftAways. When I bought the second one, I noticed that they kept the general design the same over the years but improved the engineering on a few things (like adding structural fins to plastic parts prone to breaking) so I've been a Shark fan since noticing that. My previous cordless is a Bissell ClearView XR which was neat, but not super effective.

My area rugs feel like new. So much nasty dust was pulled out of the fibers. And the fins of the roller fluffed up the fibers. Seriously my rugs haven't felt this soft in years. This vacuum is amazing.

100% do yourself a favor and get the Clean & Empty version. Having a base to put the vacuum in which pulls all the hair and dust without any of it going into the air is such an improvement. With the Bissell, I'm always holding my breath when I empty it, my garbage can gets dusty, often I spill on the floor by accident. With this new Shark, it sucks it all down (base, then the vacuum does a little rev, then base again quickly) and I supposedly should only need to empty once a month, which means it is going to the outside bin no problem. Oh, and it charges from that base too so it's always ready for you.

Can't recommend this vacuum enough! Hope this review helps; I would've appreciated finding one before purchasing so I wasn't nervous for no reason!

r/VacuumCleaners on Reddit: Shark cordless models question
August 11, 2025 -

Does anybody know what is the difference between PowerDetect IP3252 and PowerDetect IP3251 models?

I ordered the 3252 from Target (on sale for $389, normally $529)

Then I ordered the 3251 from Shark’s website (sale $399, normally $549)

Shark had a 10% coupon on top of the $399 sale price so I ended up saving money. I am tempted to return the 3252 to Target because of this. But before I decide which to return, I want to make sure there aren’t any major differences in the vacuums.

Which is better, or are they the same and just have a model number difference due to colors of the vacuum pieces???

I cannot find the answer anywhere on their site, hoping to find a knowledgeable answer on here instead. Thanks!

I mean, you already ordered both and intend to return one. Maybe just compare when they arrive? Retailers have specific versions of products all the time which usually differ in accessories or color only. From what I can tell, they are mechanically identical. Side note, I hope you're consistent with cleaning filters. Between the dock and the vacuum, there are 6 filters which require regular cleaning. The dock does not clean the filters in the vacuum, it's must be done manually.

I just got the Shark IP3253 and when I step on it to to put it flat on the ground it has sort of a hard click. Is this common, will it eventually loosen up at a clip or something wears with use?

I don’t want to return it, so I’m hoping this is normal :/

Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Vacuum Review: Bulky But Brilliant - Tech Advisor
Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Pet vacuum review
This clever stick vacuum empties itself and leaves collected debris behind at its floor-standing dock, but you’ll have to find a home for it and its tools Wouldn’t it be great if someone could empty the vacuum for you? That’s the premise behind Shark’s PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Pet Vacuum Cleaner (IP3251UKT in the UK, IP3251 in the US): a stick vac that, much like some robot vacuums, whooshes dirt into its charging dock after every cleaning session. So, not only is the dust cup empty every time you vacuum, you’ll only have to empty the main dock every so often: perfect for busy
