Situation: old Dyson DC25 is having issues with suction and roller brush not spinning.
I wanted to look for 'best of best' vacuums that are similar to Dyson.
I found Shark Stratos AZ3002 and it seemed to better in many areas, specifically:
it's going to be new w/warranty, etc
prevents hair buildup on brush
has odor control
more maneuverrability, as I understand you can detach the canister during operation
Then I found Shark Stratos AZ3002 Powerfins post that details
Shark does not sell individual PowerFins or brushrolls, you have to buy the entire nozzle assembly for replacements
Full nozzle assembly is expensive
Uncertainty in coverage of PowerFins and brushroll
Limited repair options - with nor practical/affordable maintenance options, you may be pushed into buying a new vacuum
All that said, if I want to stay under $300-350 and have a good performing vacuum for a while, what are my options? Should I steer clear of Shark Stratos AZ3002 because of these issues? Should I still get it but load up on any and all multi-year warranties?
Budget: $300-350. EDIT: this will likely be a gift, so I’m aiming to keep the vacuum under $350 to avoid sending the wrong message to the gift recipient, and to avoid giving them any future expensive repair expenses. $300 is ideal, and around $350 is probably absolute max.
Flooring types: carpet, floor
Cleaning needs: pets/pet hair, ease of operation and maneuverability, vacuum style similar to Dyson
Bought a brand new Shark Stratos Anti Hair Wrap Plus Pet Pro, from Shark direct in the UK.
Good at vacuuming, as long as you can do what you need within 10 minutes before it goes dead.
With a fully charged battery, when used in upright vacuum mode, in auto speed, it goes down 10% about every minute. Mostly hard floors so it is on the slow speed.
I asked Shark for support, who sent me a brand new battery, charged it up and its exactly the same.
We've only got a small 3 bed house, but it's not possible to vacuum it in the 10 minutes it gives.
Fortunately despite asking what they'd like me to do with the old battery, after a couple weeks of no reply I just kept the old battery and will keep it charged, but honestly, I don't think a vacuum which costs £320 should do a maximum of 10 minutes Runtime.
I did ask Shark about the Runtime and they sent me a chart, which does indeed say 15 minutes for when used in upright mode. Wow. On their marketing they say 'up to 60 minutes', but that's only possible in handheld mode on eco only setting.
Good job we kept our mains powered upright Vax vacuum. Wouldn't recommend any battery powered Shark vacuums as I imagine this is a problem on all of them.
Hi everyone, I need your help! I live in a 700 sqft one bedroom and I don’t have pets. I’ve been shopping for a cordless vacuum for a while. I’m currently using an Old Shark vacuum with cord that my friend gave me for free. It does the job but I really want something cordless. I always wanted to buy the Dyson V15. My friends tell me it’s amazing & it’s a must buy. However, it’s a bit pricey.. and looking in this sub, apparently the Miele with cord is the best. Anyways, my place is always clean and I’m not messy at all. I’m looking for something that will do the job but not something cheap. I’ve been thinking to buy the Shark Stratos. It is currently on sale at Costco for 300$ CAD. Worst case, I can buy and return it. I wanted to know what do you guys think of my situation and if I should buy the Stratos. If not, any other recommendations for a good price? I live in Canada btw!
Thank you all in advance!
