I am new to painting and am going to be painting pretty much every room. I bought a really nice spray painted - other than that any help or suggestions you wouldn't mind sharing would be great.
SW emerald is $80/gallon but will be 40% on Friday. Is the paint worth the high cost? I don't mind paying for quality.
The paint I would like to find would be the most durable, most cleanable and easiest to put on (multi dog home) and newbie painter. If the two durability and cleaning are first.
Please help, I have been avoiding doing this for 2 years, but I cannot stand to look at these beige walls any longer
If you have any videos to share that will help, that would be great
Thanks a million
I recently bought my first home and will be painting the majority of the walls over the next couple of months. I’ve lived in various apartments up to this point and could definitely notice which ones used cheap paint vs nice paint in terms of durability and ease of cleaning it. I want to use pretty much the highest quality paint possible and do not mind paying a bit extra as I’m sure the added longevity and durability will make up for it in the long run. I’ve been recommended the Emerald line of paint by Sherman Williams by a few people and was wondering if this is worth the cost and if it is one of the best options. Any insight or other recommendations is welcome!
I tried using SW Emerald paint and it's not applying to the wall correctly and SW doesn't know why. The walls have no texture and are smooth. I primed the walls. Primer was dry for days and walls were clean.
I would do a couple of vertical strokes and then "back roll" or lay the paint off in one direction. Which the SW rep told me was correct to do. The paint is on the wall for only about 30 seconds before I back roll. But when I back roll, it's literally pulling the paint off the wall.
That picture is not of a textured wall. It's the paint literally being pulled off the wall. Again, the paint was definitely not dry yet. Only about 30 seconds had passed before I started back rolling.
Same thing happened when I went over the sections that I had cut in -
I don't get why it's gelling up and smearing like this. SW doesn't know either. I used a 3/8 Purdy Marathon Roller. I'm positive I'm putting plenty of paint on the wall. If anything, I might be using too much.
Any idea why this is happening? I've seen other reddit posts that are having this same issue and I even saw a review on the SW Emerald website where someone claimed to be having the exact same problem that I'm having.
