I got a recommendation from SW for this product and wanted to ask if anyone has used this before and their experience with it!
Also, it shows as "water-based". Does that mean that I can clean my brush and airless sprayer with water?

I didn’t really look close at the window pics and I assumed they pre finished in white ; which aren’t worth the headache. Factory prefinished applied paints are superior to field finish applied paints; which will require future coats of paint. If yours are unfinished white, caulk them up, mask off glass, remove hardware and spray. Same prep/covering procedure applies. Be sure to wipe the window frames with denatured alcohol to remove any manufacturing oils and lightly sand with 220g prior to painting. The emerald should have no problem bonding if you prep accordingly. Also, have you tested the existing paint surface for latex compatibility? That’s the most important step bc it dictates what type of product you need to apply.

I've used it and like it, although I typically go with the less expensive pro classic for $$ reasons. And yes you can clean up with water, although some agitation and dish soap can help.

Emerald urethane enamel thins and cleans with mineral spirits. After spraying, empty the gun and pour mineral spirits into cup then shoot their the gun. Rinse and repeat until it shoots clean. Usually takes 2-3 rinses in a hvlp. Emerald acrylic thins and cleans with water. More on reddit.com

Try thinning the paint so it flows better. Water based paints are incredibly thick to be able to atomize through an hvlp gun. I always thin to a 6 second drip - that means it stops dripping off the stir stick after 6 seconds. And I've had no issues with water based paints not leveling out or drying properly by thinning them. With an hvlp gun, you're also applying the paint in much thinner coats than with an airless. For our kitchen cabinets, I used primer + at least 3 coats (4 coats for some doors) with a sprayer, sanding and tacking after each coat, on both sides of the door. The doors look gorgeous, but...
Waited 2 months (!) after painting to let them cure, but the paint is still softer than pine wood. Fingernails dent this paint. Does the paint get any harder?
Everything was done inside, room temperature... I'm so disappointed, this was more than $1000 of paint and many many hours of work.

Emerald urethane is a modified alkyd which naturally has a slow cure time. If I had to guess, you used a dark color, deep base. Those take forever to dry, it could be soft for up to a month. Definitely will be longer because of the 3-4 coats. Definitely over-kill. Next time, stick to 2 coats of finish. If you want to beef it up, do an additional coat of primer rather than finish. I do dozens of cabinet projects a year & have never used that much product on even kitchens with 100+ pieces.

I would give it a minimum of two weeks before aggressive cleaning just to be safe. I have also used proclassic latex and find the Emerald to be a little tougher at least short term. I have Proclassic doing well at 10 yr plus. You mentioned Pro Industrial urethane alkyd waterborne. This is a similar product by Sherwin-Williams but you will have to double the blocking and cure times.

SW Emerald trim paint comes in 2 formulations: Urethane and Latex. Urethane has very different properties than Latex.

July 30, 2019 - I am a cabinet and furniture refinisher and we use Emeral Urethane all the time and i spray through an HVLP with compressed air. I found that thinning with 22.5% distilled water gives outstanding results and hardness. I do a drop test sometimes for potential clients where i drop a cabinet door onto concrete in their driveway to show the hardness of the door. For rolling we use Sherwin Williams 4" Flockfoam roller, back roll nice and slow with even strokes, also we try to limit the time applying the paint, I do not thin or use any retarder when rolling and there are minimal brush marks.
