sherwin-williams emerald price per gallon

April 23, 2023 - The enviro friendly deluxe was like $30 more. I got a quote from a vendor who uses SW Emerald, they quoted 8 @ $100 each. I assume this is the 5gal pail, and not the 1 gal can (total 1000 sqft to be painted).

I am new to painting and am going to be painting pretty much every room. I bought a really nice spray painted - other than that any help or suggestions you wouldn't mind sharing would be great.

SW emerald is $80/gallon but will be 40% on Friday. Is the paint worth the high cost? I don't mind paying for quality.

The paint I would like to find would be the most durable, most cleanable and easiest to put on (multi dog home) and newbie painter. If the two durability and cleaning are first.

Please help, I have been avoiding doing this for 2 years, but I cannot stand to look at these beige walls any longer

Yes, worth it. Same with Benjamin Moore’s top end, Aura. I’m the family member that everyone calls when they want painting done, I will push people to use one of those two brands and to use their top shelf products, they make a difference. Typically you go with egg shell finish on walls, semi-gloss or satin on trim, and matte on ceilings. Get something like Aura bath and spa for high humidity rooms like bathrooms and use satin or egg shell on bathroom ceilings, and make sure you leave the fan on for 20 mins after you’re done showering to help keep the ceiling free from mold. If you have low natural light and you want to brighten up the room up stay north of 60 LRV. But if it has plenty of natural light you can do what you like. But most interior designers like neutral colors in the 55-75 range. Use frog tape, it’s the best painters tape. I like purdy brushes and rollers.

SW does those sales literally every month. Always use their paint but never ever pay full sticker for it. Amateur move. You can ALWAYS get it on sale if you’re patient.

My painter wants $400 more if I want SW Emerald. They use superpaint. Is it worth it?

Assuming a satin finish: If you want washability, mould and moisture resistance, and ease of future touch up (Emerald is available in quarts while Superpaint is not), then it is worth the upgrade. The painter has his own profit margin and it costs him more to buy Emerald than it would Superpaint. In my experience a gallon Emerald is $25-$35 more expensive compared to Superpaint, and that is at the painter’s contractor price. I’m probably overestimating a little bit, but for two coats let’s say it takes 10 gallons of paint for everything you need done. 10 x $35 = $350 plus applicable taxes. So the painter’s math is correct. More on reddit.com
