I’ve used Pirateship for a long time and never had an issue. There is no charge to use the service and the USPS and UPS rates are great. They do not offer Fedex. Customer service is great. Never used shipstation but isn’t there a subscription fee? PS has none. Answer from Worf- on reddit.com

Ship Pirate vs Shipstation : r/ecommerce
July 7, 2021 - You can talk to Pirateship's live chat right now and ask them if there's a way to do what you need. They're helpful and friendly folk. ... but they're actually giving me better rate ON ALL of my shipments by offering me discounted UPS ground that I'm not able to get working directly with UPS reps and through Ship station. Uhhh.. what? Shipstation offers about a 55% discount for UPS ground, are you not getting that?

Ebay shipping discount vs shipstation, pirateship, etc

Getting back into e-commerce via new eBay seller account and wanted to know if ship station and the like were worth the extra money, cheapest service to ship through etc or just stick with shipping through eBay

Any advice is appreciated!

I have never tried ship station so I cannot speak to their pricing or customer service. Pirate Ship and ebay are usually very close in price if not the same however pirate ship offers cubic rates and ebay does not. Pirate ship also is way more reliable than ebay shipping and their customer service is amazing. I have been trying out veeqo, they offer a 5% credit for the first 60 days. After 60 days depends on the service and probably also the volume you ship. The 5% adds up but it does come with a cost, it is a much harder site to use. The support is pretty terrible too. Veeqo is an amazon company, which some dislike. If your buyers have informed delivery they will see the package coming from Amazon for Merchants and not ebay powered by pitney bowes, pirate ship, or ship station. I do not ship a lot of UPS or Fedex so I am unsure of how there pricing compares but UPS is pretty close to anywhere else. USPS rates are the same but cheaper with the 5% credit. However, if you also sell on Amazon VQ is pretty nice as it still protects sellers the way buying shipping on Amazon does. Orders are also imported and shipping is exported back much faster to Amazon than to ebay. I made a VQ subreddit since crowd sourced support for it is hard to find. https://www.reddit.com/r/veeqo/ My break down of the options would be: ebay shipping is for beginners. Pirateship is for growing sellers. Veeqo is for advancing sellers who cannot yet hit huge volume of monthly shipments. I do not know where ship station fits in.

Pirateship is usually a bit cheaper than eBay IME, or at worst the same. They offer Ground Advantage "cubic rate" whereas eBay does not, and the savings on packages that qualify for that can be substantial. They do not offer FedEx services, though, where eBay does. If you find yourself using FedEx Ground / Home Delivery regularly, maybe stick with eBay. PS has notably better customer service if there's a problem with a label or shipment. No 'extra money' involved - no subscription or monthly fee. Really no idea about shipstation. Looked into it once and didn't seem worth it to me.

Hi everyone! I just started running an online shop mainly through Instagram, and wanted to get some advice on which shipping service to use! I'm currently leaning toward Ship Station but would love to see if there's anything about Pirate Ship that people love!

I sell upcycled and thrifted clothes! Inventory isn't too big, and it's more of a part-time side hustle right now!

shipstation.com

Update: I ended up going with PirateShip because it's so much easier to use, ShipStation would be great for those with a lot of inventory to manage

Hi,

I'm currently using PirateShip.com for shipping, been using them for 4 years. I'm happy with the service, happy wirth the price but I recently signed up to Triple Whale to get deeper analytics. Currently my shipping is not added to the platform as it doesn't integrate PirateShip. It integrates ShipStation and ShipBob.

I do all my own manufacturing, storage, picking, packing and shipping. Should I move away from PirateShip to one of these shipping companies that integrates with Shopify and Triple Whale?

Has anyone else migrated away from Pirate Ship to something else and found the grass is greener?

I'm in the U.S. and plan to sell primarily in the U.S., though I may get some international orders. I want to sell low weight, small items (possibly under 1 pound and in a bubble mailer but it will depend on the quantity ordered).

I've come across two great shipping softwares...Pirate Ship and Shippingeasy. I'm wondering if I can use both with Shopify or if that will be too confusing? Seems like Pirate Ship is the best for international orders but some people say Shippingeast can be better for domestic orders - not sure how true that is though? TIA!

Backstory, most of my items I sell are “sets” that due to size and weight ship in multiple boxes typically 2-4 boxes. Then if the order contains any other items, additional boxes for those items.

Currently using Pirate Ship. I tried a free trial of ShipStation because you can split shipments and do multi package shipments. This is perfect for me so I can quickly and on one page set up several packages, and better yet, have them all tracked under a parent tracking number. Unfortunately it seems that whenever you do a multi package shipment, the rates go up. I can do multiple single package shipments for $13.40 per box, for example, in the example order I’m looking at, however for a multi package shipment the rate went to $20.82 per box. That’s a lot of money to pay for connivence, and other than that ShipStation gives me no big advantages over Pirate Ship.

So what other services do you guys recommend that can help me streamline my shipping. I’m looking for something that can let me purchase multiple labels for one order all at once and then send a single automated email with either one parent tracking number or all tracking numbers in a single email. And not hike up the rates when doing a multi package shipment.

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if Shipstation pays for itself by offering lower shipping prices? I use Sellbrite right now, which will connect to most channels, but when you print the label, it generally comes from eBay, Etsy or Amazon etc. I am wondering if Shipstation offers even lower rates than lose companies?

If they don't have the lowest rates, then who does? Thanks a ton for any responses.

We're using shipstation, but their integration with Etsy does not support cancelled orders, Etsy autocancels scam orders but they still remain on shipstation, so we're looking elsewhere. We do 500+ orders/mo with UPS and USPS. Any suggestions, or shipstation workarounds are appreciated! No experience with Pirateship yet

r/Mercari on Reddit: Sellers or buyers with experience of Pirate Ship and/or Paypal Labels.. are either worth it to use for selling on Mercari?
June 7, 2020 -

I have been doing some searching for lower rates- I see that a lot of sellers here use Pirate Ship. A few here and there use Paypal Shipping labels.

Foe both: How reliable is it compared to major companies like UPS, Fed Ex, and the USPS post office when it comes to shipping labels, customer service, rates, and other things? Has anyone dealt with a package getting lost and going through their support to locate it or be reimbursted?

Pirate Ship Questions: Does Pirate Ship they have media mail labels available like Paypal does? I didn't see it anywhere but may have been clicking in the wrong areas when I was checking. What might be some problems that you've run into when using Pirate Ship?

Paypal Shipping Questions: Do you need invoices made and payments accepted to create labels? What are their rates like compared to USPS? (For anyone who's used either)- Rates compared to Pirate Ship?

I am curious because I once tried Endicia, only I signed up for it and never bothered to use it because the platform felt overwhelming for me. They saved my card even after I deleted it from my account, charged me almost $20 that I had to dispute with Paypal after I got an email from Endicia support saying I'd be getting a check in the mail because I "didn't ship anything within the last few months," and another that stated they can only give refunds at the end of billing periods, which would ONLY have been a $17.99 refund (???). So I want to make sure I have reliable information and questions answered before I try to use either of these. I'd just mainly like to know the questions above listed for both and any other pros/cons that could be added as useful tips when using either of them. Thanks in advance!

I use Pirate Ship sometimes and I think it is better than Paypal shipping. The interface is a bit more friendly and insurance is cheaper on Pirate Ship and as was mentioned before, they have cubic rate priority mail available. Really, there isn't a cost sink into either platform, so you don't have to worry there. In case it may help you in your research I did a pretty intense deep dive into Mercari Labels vs. Pirate Ship a while back and here is my summary: https://www.reddit.com/r/Mercari/comments/gsusez/shipping_rates_analysis/ I didn't check Paypal in the study for the reasons mentioned above - but PayPal does have the benefit of being able to pay directly from your balance and some people prefer that.

I've used both Pirateship and Paypal labels. I prefer the interface on Pirateship. Both will give you commercial rates, which are always lower than walking into UPS, Fedex, or the post office to buy your postage, and often dramatically so. If the package gets lost, you'd be dealing with USPS directly, no matter where you buy your postage from, so that part is irrelevant. Yes, Pirateship offers media mail labels. One of the benefits of Pirateship is that, in addition to all of the kinds of postage that PayPal and physically visiting the post office can offer, they also offer something called cubic rate (pricing based on the volume of the box, not its weight). Depending on what you're mailing, this can be a significant cost savings. PayPal: no, you do not need an invoice made or a Paypal payment accepted. Just visit paypal.com/shipnow and enter the info for your package. Their rates should be the same as Pirateship (both offer the commercial rate), though I have not personally compared the two directly. Both Pirateship and Paypal offer lower rates than visiting the post office itself. Neither of these sites has any kind of monthly or ongoing fee - you only pay for the labels you purchase.

So a lot of small business owners use pirate ship. I was wondering how much lower negotiated rates can be in comparison to pirateship and what kind of volume would you need for the difference to be significant.

Alternatively when should one start considering a 3pl? How much volume do you need? How does the amount of variety of products you have factor in? How many dollars should you be netting per item before working with a 3pl?
