I don't have shokz, but IP55 should be fine in rain. The 5 means it's protected from water jets at any angle. The 7 in IP67 let's you submerge in water (the first digit is the dust ingress) Answer from Efficient_Button6630 on reddit.com

Additionally, its secure and comfortable fit provides peace of mind while in use. Water resistance with IP55 can handle a decent amount of water from splashes, jet skis, speed boats, heavy rain, etc.

r/XXRunning on Reddit: Shokz headphones vs. rain?
July 11, 2025 -

I was thinking about getting myself a pair of openrun pro 2s now that they're on sale but I'm pretty confused. Why is the IP-rating of the basic openrun model better (IP67) than the pro model (IP55)? The pros are about 50€ more expensive (and have the better sound from what I've heard), so why are they worse in that regard?

And why are headphones that people like to use while running outside not fitted with a rating that would allow running in the rain?

Or do I misunderstand the rating and IP55 is perfectly fine for sudden surprise-downpours? If anybody has any experience with the openrun pro 2s, kindly let me know!

Edit: I asked customer support. Basically sweat and light rain are fine despite the worse rating, but rain showers not so much. It's good to know some of you have made the experience that they can endure a bit more though.

REVIEW: Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Headphones - Ultra Running Magazine
November 27, 2024 - This lands it in the “sweatproof” category rather than the more robust IP67 waterproof protection of the lower-tier OpenRun model. While this seems like a missed opportunity to upgrade weather resistance, we’ve also used the OpenRun Pro 2 during track workouts in rainstorms without any difficulty.

r/Runners on Reddit: Shockz Openrun Pro in the rain
May 30, 2024 -

Last Sunday I ran a 10 k race with the Shocks Openrun Pro. The earphones worked fine during the race and afterwards too.

However, When I tried charging those it keeps making a beep sound and vibrates. I dried those charging ports and points keeping it next to a fan. Also rubbed those with dry cloth.

I only had it for a 2 months so beyond the return period at Bestbuy but raised a claim with Shockz.

It is highly disappointing and now I don't have a backup. Is there anyone with similar experience? How did you get yours' to work?

September 6, 2024 - So you can use it outside in the rain and even heavy sweat won't cause it any problems. Instead of a plug in the ear as with in-ears, you put on a headband and a small speaker rests on the skull bone and directs the music to the ear.
