To start, I am not an audiophile by any means, but I do understand that the "Shokz" brand serves a purpose and that isn't audiophile quality headphones. I will say though, the newest ones are a marked improvement over the original OpenRun Pro and the OpenFit.
I got an email from Shokz about their 14-day trial program for the ORP2 and figured why not? I've had my ORP1 for a couple of years now and bought the OpenFit when they released (pictured here are my 3rd set of OpenFit after 2 warranty replacement). I've worn the ORP2 for a run and a day at the office to test them out and I will say, the new speaker setup is substantially better than the ORP1 and OpenFit. Having one set of speakers for bone conduction while another set "targets" sound toward your ears makes more a much nicer listening experience.
The fit is similar to the originals, but a little heavier due to the new drivers. I don't see this being too much of an issue on longer runs or just daily wear. The band is the same size as the previous model. The best part about the new design (to me)? No more proprietary cable and port, it now has a USBC port and comes with a little cable.
The new design of the case is nice with a fatter, but shorter case with a little stash pocket for the included cable.
Lastly, I do plan to return these and not keep them. I do plan on purchasing them at a later date, but nearly $200 with taxes (US) is a tough pill when I already have 2 sets of Shokz that work fine (at least until this set of OpenFit crap out like my last 2). All in all, a solid upgrade from the previous model.
I have been a user of Shokz (Aftershokz) headphones since 2016. The OpenRun Pros were the best headphones I have ever used for running and I felt that each iteration of their headphones since their conception were an improvement to their predecessors. I have been having issues with the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2s however. I run every day in all of the elements -- I also sweat a lot. These headphones only last me a month or so before sweat causes the speakers to start sounding fuzzy or busted. It seems to always be the right side that fails. I am about to send my pair in for the 3rd warranty claim this year alone. I wish I would have never gotten rid of my OpenRun Pro headphones and really wish they would just replace these with the open run pros at this point.
I have been combing the internet trying to find where someone else has had this issue but all reviews seem to be positive. Surely I cannot be the only one having this issue. Its beyond frustrating to say the least and this might be what causes me to break my brand loyalty.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the OpenRun Pro 2s?

On August 28th these release. What would you want to see ?
Hoping to get some help here. Should/can I use the openrun’s for lap swimming? Says not intended but says IP67 waterproof.
Any have OpenSwim’s and use for running? I’m doing a lot of cross training so want to get the best option but Openrun’s are a lot cheaper.
I am trying to decide between these two types of headphones. I already have Aeropex from Shokz, which I love and I am looking to make an upgrade. The ability to swim with them would sound appealing, but then I am not a big swimmer and it seems like the OpenRun Pro 2 might offer better sound quality, whereas the OpenSwim Pro would only be a marginal improvement on sound quality over my Aeropex.
So the question is, has anyone had the opportunity to try both models and can comment on the difference in sound? I would like to know if the technology in the OpenRun is really so game changing for certain registers and also whether it maybe has more sound leakage than the traditional pure bone conduction headphones.
My JBL has given up the ghost, it keeps cutting out. Working out without music is impossible 😉
Anyone have a tip for good wireless waterproof headphones?
I was thinking about getting myself a pair of openrun pro 2s now that they're on sale but I'm pretty confused. Why is the IP-rating of the basic openrun model better (IP67) than the pro model (IP55)? The pros are about 50€ more expensive (and have the better sound from what I've heard), so why are they worse in that regard?
And why are headphones that people like to use while running outside not fitted with a rating that would allow running in the rain?
Or do I misunderstand the rating and IP55 is perfectly fine for sudden surprise-downpours? If anybody has any experience with the openrun pro 2s, kindly let me know!
Edit: I asked customer support. Basically sweat and light rain are fine despite the worse rating, but rain showers not so much. It's good to know some of you have made the experience that they can endure a bit more though.
Last Sunday I ran a 10 k race with the Shocks Openrun Pro. The earphones worked fine during the race and afterwards too.
However, When I tried charging those it keeps making a beep sound and vibrates. I dried those charging ports and points keeping it next to a fan. Also rubbed those with dry cloth.
I only had it for a 2 months so beyond the return period at Bestbuy but raised a claim with Shockz.
It is highly disappointing and now I don't have a backup. Is there anyone with similar experience? How did you get yours' to work?
I just won a pair of open run mini at a 5K and I much prefer running with AirPods rather than bone conducting. I know the open run mini says waterproof but is it capable of being suitable for swimming? I’m also aware that Bluetooth doesn’t work underwater too well but wanted to try if it was possible. Will I just break them if I try? I know Shokz sells an openswim but I can’t exchange this one.
If anyone has an open swim they want to trade for brand new open runs that would be cool too 👀
I got a bonus at work and decided to upgrade my shokz openmove. They are pretty good at what they need to do but every few months they die on me. Shokz has an a class customer service and I always received a new pair (currently on my 4th one) but it's maybe time for something that's a little bit more waterproof.
Is the extra money worth the openrun pro 2.0? I see there's openrun pro and openrun 2.0 but it's quite a leap in price point.
What‘s Up? I‘m looking for headphones for cycling. Feel like my AirPods are not the best while beeing on my racebike. Any experience with the shokz openrun pro 2 or alternatives?
I'm thinking about buying shokz OpenRun Pro or OpenSwim Pro. The main difference I see is OpenRun Pro is "gen 9" bone conduction tech with ip55. OpenSwim Pro is "gen 8" bone conduction tech with ip68 (waterproof for swimming). Is the sound quality that different? How are they during the day for runs etc? I don't own bone conduction headphones but tried a friends openmove version ("gen 7"). Would appreciate any advice between these two versions, specifically on sound quality differences between the two "generations". Thanks!
My personal preferences: I prefer higher quality sound, but understand limitations of bone conduction. These will be used to keep my ears free on runs and in my office and on walks with my dog, while also on swims if possible. I was a swimmer for a decade and am debating on getting into again, but am wishy washy on that. For price, I just want to purchase the headphones that fit my needs. That are similar price (even when OpenRun Pro go on sale) so I mainly want something functional for a long time. If OpenRun Pro are significantly better in sound quality, that will be my preference. Thanks for your advice!
I just received the Shokz OpenRun 2, and the first thing I noticed is that these aren’t bone conduction headphones – they’re more like mini speakers. I moved them about half an inch away from my head, and the sound didn’t change. Plus, my ability to hear outside noise was significantly reduced.
It’s worth mentioning that I’ve been using different Shokz models for over four years (back when they were Aftershokz), and I wear them daily for all my Zoom calls (5-8 hours a day). So, discovering that these weren’t true bone conduction headphones was a huge disappointment.
But then I decided to see if there was an app with any settings I could tweak.
And guess what? There is!
If you go to Settings and then EQ Modes, you’ll find a toggle for “Classic Bone Conduction Mode” that turns this crap back into the product I loved. :)
Immediate impressions
These feel great. If you like the openrun pro these don't feel much different. Maybe a slight bit more "snug" but that could be due to my pair having stretched a bit over the last couple years.
These sound amazing with a much fuller sound landscape. The bass is actually noticeable, the highs are crisp, and the sound isn't muddled at all.
USB C! Nothing more to say here.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with these and can't wait to take them out on the road. I'm also not affiliated with Shokz at all, just a fan of their products 😀
Whats the difference between the open run and the open run pro 2 shokz headphones? It's a 50 dollar difference. These will be my first running headphones, so im just curious.
Hi
I am on my third pair of Shokz now in about 4 years. Each time one of the drivers have failed and I can’t hear in one side. Too be fair Shokz has replaced them once for me. My replacement set just died in one side this morning. I like how they work with sweaty hands when running, but reliability is shocking
Is there a more reliable bone conduction headset out there for running?
update: The previous pair I had was an openrun pro. The pro has IP55 water splash resistance. The openrun pro 2 is the same. I ended up buying the cheaper openrunsas they have IP67 water resistance to 1m. For reference the openswims are IP68 water proof to 3m.
you heard me! I was about to buy some Shokz OpenRun (non-pro because they seem better at dust/water proofing) but now that the OpenSwim Pro are out and offer bluetooth connection I'm not sure anymore.
I need that extra dust/water proofing (extreme work environment) so it seems a no brainer to go for a swimming model, but I still wonder what I'll be missing by not using the OpenRun ones.
Soundwise I actually tried the OpenSwim old model (without Bluetooth) and I didn't mind at all their sound.
Any suggestions? Thanks
Question have anyone used Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 for PC usage? Like gaming talking on discord and so on?
