I have an 8-gallon, 4.5hp Shop-Vac (actual Shop-Vac brand). It seems like a single collection bag is about $10 in stores, while on Amazon you can get a 5-pack. Any issues with this? I'm using it to just clean general dust.

Sure, no major issues as you can technically use a shop vac without bags as long as you have a filter in place. I use amazon bags in my shop vac and read the reviews to make sure that they fit and aren't too flimsy.

I agree with u/Complete_Bike_7493 the generic bags are good enough and you use it with the cartridge filter in place. Just a heads up there are the white standard paper bags and then there are Yellow High Efficiency Bags $18/4pk. and Generic Yellow HE Bags $20/8pk. There are also Generic Hepa Bags $19/3pk. available too. It depends on what you want to clean, where, and you can choose the bags. The standard and even the yellow HE bags will let some dust through and you'll see it on the cartridge filter. You'll see a lot less dust get through the hepa bags. A lot of bulky sawdust that will fill up the bags quickly, I would go with the Generic Yellow High Efficiency Bags. For occasional garage and car cleaning where you aren't filling the bags in a day, I'd go with the HEPA bags.

Noob question: I purchased a Ridgid 12 gallon wet/dry vac to clean up occasional messes. While I can find several bags for picking up dry messes like drywall etc. on Amazon, I'm not easily finding bags that I can use to pick up wet messes (being prepared for the cases if we have a small amount of water intrusion in the basement after a heavy rainfall, or cleaning up the sump pump - not that I'm looking forward to either activity!)
