i was thinking about a new revenue stream ,so yeah nothing original a themed website with merch .
anyway had a quick look at advertising and it just does not seem to add up ,unless i've got it wrong
bing $0.90 per click in my sector conversion rate 2.8% so back of the envelope calculation lets say 3 sales from every 100 customers cost me $90.00 and from 3 sales id be lucky to do $20.00 profit .
i guess you could build an audience using mail chimp but whatever that is not a viable business model ?

Not only is it worth it, it is 100% necessary. But the equation is going to be whether or not you have a product people want to buy. You can’t just say “oh, I want to make money, so I’m gonna sling shit online”. You need a product, a good product. Minimum free shipping threshold encourages larger cart volumes, and lifetime customer value is increased via email and sms marketing. Also, you WILL operate at a loss for the first few months while you build up a catalog of repeat customers and the algorithm learns how best to serve your ads for max conversion. If you’re starting from scratch, go heavy on brand awareness focus campaigns; YouTube, discovery, programmatic displays… and then double down with remarketing towards those who visit your site. I personally see better results with Criteo than I do on google.
