so Shopify sent me a tap and chip reader and it looks really nice. Obviously they’re trying to sell me the POS subscription, but can I use the reader without subscribing to it? Does it work with Stripe?
Ordered a Shopify Tap & Chip card reader to accept payments at a fair on Saturday and the device was lost in the mail. I can’t get another quickly enough; the POS Go All-In-One is on Amazon but looks like it requires an outlet, which I won’t have access to. Since I run an online Shopify store, I prefer Shopify hardware but seems like I can’t get a wireless solution in time, so what would you recommend I use to accept credit cards? Thank you!
Hello!
I'm thinking about using Shopify as my POS to integrate with web (i like having everything under one digital roof, for obvious reasons). Just from a functionality and offerings standpoint, Shopify seems to be a bit better than Square, so I'm thinking of using Shopify. However...
Every single person seems to be complaining about the card reader. I don't want a lot of tech visible in my store, which is why I'll be using the POS app and an iPad, but wow... so many people are frustrated with how much their chip/tap card readers break. This is a major red flag for me. I would normally assume this is user error, but considering how many people are having issues with this, I think this is actually troubling. That said, does anyone on here have okay experiences with the chip/tap reader, or is it practically everyone? it's weird to me Shopify is as big as they are, and over the last four years, there have been endless complaints about them.
