I tried ebay and it wouldn't even let me list an item and i tried getting in contact with them and nothing.
So I'm gonna risk it, but i really want to know how likely am i to succeed because google says its only betwen 5-10% success rate.
Also, how much money could i make as a beginner and what tips would you give me?

Shopify is an ecommerce platform, (and many people think it's a great one). Shopify is not drop shipping, although as you have noted many people have tried to use Shopify to build drop shipping sites.
Your concerns about drop shipping are valid and true, but they aren't specific to Shopify and would apply to any platform.
It sounds like you have learned some stuff, which is good, right? "Why would anyone buy anything from YOUR store when Amazon exists?" - you said it - can you figure out how to build a store that answers that question? Better have something unique... product not offered on Amazon, expertise, etc.
