I use Shopify for my brick and mortar store that I put online 5 years ago. I use Shopify POS on an iPad with their drawer, printer, and scanner. I use a different company for my payment processor, and I do not accept payment online, which has worked well for our situation (local pick up and delivery. We do not ship). I have been happy with it, although I have nothing to compare it to. Sometimes, there are glitches or things that you have to figure out how to make work for your unique situation, but overall, it's a pretty seamless and easy to use system. I'm glad we use an outside payment processor because I do feel like I have seen a lot of complaints about issues with the machinery and the processing part. I have not noticed as many complaints about them lately, though. So maybe there has been some improvement there. I like that I can do almost everything on my phone as well as the iPad. It's all pretty seamless and user-friendly. My store is a health and bulk food store that also serves frozen yogurt so we have barcodes (2000 products) and custom sales for weighted items, plus just buttons on the register for the fro yo- so we use the system in many different ways and it has worked. Recently the system updated and we haven't been able to give line by line discounts on custom sales at checkout, but I used the "report a bug" feature and I got a response and they are working on adding it back in- so that's pretty good service, rather than being stuck in an endless chat bot loop for help. Also, I really can not think of a time when the system failed and we couldn't process sales, but that is also because of having a different payment processor. If shopify went down, we could still manually calculate sales and still take payments. Shopify rarely goes down, and it's always only a few minutes. Con - it's freaking pricey! I get it. It's super useful, but add on any apps like a loyalty program and mail chimp, and it's $500 a month. Overall 9/10 Also! I have a 70yo male employee (I bought the store from him), and he has been able to learn how to use it and adapt to constant minor adjustments after updates.
