I've got tons of Shop Savvy stories. The big one was when I was with a friend at Home Depot. He needed a dishwasher, but was itching for the more expensive one. I told him about the Shop Savvy application. The display at Home Depot didn't have a barcode, so I put in the name of the dishwasher. In a few seconds it shows up that Best Buy a few miles away had it for $200 cheaper. We talked to the Home Depot rep which verified what I found and eventually price matched it !!! More on reddit.com

I just found out that Shopsavvy runs a service in the background, even if you don't ask it to and even if you've never launched the program. This service tries to find for your location using GPS for whatever reason. In case you don't know, GPS uses tons of battery; it may be the most power-hungry function on an android phone. For some reason, Shopsavvy thinks it has the right to know where you are and waste your battery, even when it's not being run.
If you value battery life, uninstall Shopsavvy right now. Also, don't be shy to leave negative market comments and e-mails to the developer.

I've been using shapsavvy since the beginning and never had a battery issue with it. Maybe you should get a startup auditor, get rid of that battery whore G1 you must have, or root and update to froyo.

Anyone have some apps to recommend for comparing food prices across grocery stores? I downloaded shopsavvy (free version) and it leaves a lot to be desired for me. Is there anything better out there?

I would like to know this too...I look like a crazy woman every week while comparing the weekly sales for each of my local grocery stores. Then I make my grocery list by store depending on what the best prices/sales are

Hey Android, I thought I would share with you guys my success story with using shop savvy!
I was at Bestbuy shopping for RAM on the day after xmas. I needed some DDR2 Ram (Preferably 2gigs). I looked at the fastest one, and it cost over $75!
So I pulled out my G1 and scanned the barcode. Sure enough, it was $41.00 on Tiger Direct. So I go up to the customer support booth and tell them my story and showed them the price on my phone. They looked it up and gave me a 30$ discount! I felt so happy.
Just thought you guys might like to hear that.

That's awesome! Being inside of a price-matching store such as Best Buy and instantly finding a great deal online for the same overpriced product saves you more than just money too. No paying for shipping & handling, and it's in your hand immediately. I think that this is easily one of the best uses of Shop Savvy.
