Oh man. Don’t listen to what analysts say, they don’t know shit. How good are their engineers compared to competition ? What is the strategy of the management ? How much stock-based compensation do they pay ? What year does the management expect them to generate positive GAAP free cash flow (adjusted to share count) ? If you are lost with these questions, then you should not invest in individual stocks Answer from Spins13 on reddit.com

r/ValueInvesting on Reddit: What's your opinion on GitLab?
June 23, 2025 -

Gitlab is trading currently at $40 which is 30% down in the last 6 months. Although it has a high P/E there's a consensus of "Strong Buy" and a target price average of $62.8.

I have a small position ($450) but I'm wondering if it's a good time to buy now. I'm still a beginner in stocks analysis, and I often rely on the consensus of analysts, so I'm curious what's your take if you have looked into this stock?

Why do many open source projects prefer github to gitlab and other non-oss stuff?
In my opinion it comes down to discoverability. I think there are more people in general on Github and Github's UI and structure is conducive for people to find new projects they can contribute to. I find Gitlab more challenging to navigate and more challenging to discover "reecommended" projects based on my interests or projects I've already bookmarked. More on reddit.com

These "tech" stocks seem like scams or junk to me...thoughts?
Okay so I agree with a lot of what you are saying. A lot of it. So I’m not going to rehash any of it. But I’ll give you some of my thoughts, both mainstream and a bit creative: Quantum: IBM, Microsoft, Google. For me…I would pick Google. For a lot of reasons not directly related to quantum computing. But also they have been researching quantum for a long time. And making good strides. But also they have an insanely good balance sheet that if any of the others make legit breakthroughs and surpass them, they can buy them or take a large stake. EV: I’m convinced the money in EV and Robotics is NOT going to be made in the manufacturing but in the technology. I don’t believe in Tesla’s approach so for me they are out. Google is also a winner here in my opinion. Both in their own but also in the licensing. AI: I don’t know enough to say what is going to be a winner and what isn’t. I DO think there is a play here in AI technology, but for right now I have to go with Google as well. They have gone the farthest, with the best implementation, of naturally embedding AI into their ecosystem. Better than Microsoft. Better than Apple. And better than the connections OpenAI has created for ChatGPT. Plus they have their own TPUs and GPUs they are beginning to monetize. Just so you don’t think I’m just shilling Google, I have non-traditional AI plays: Digital Ocean (DOCN) and Gitlab (GTLB) are two that I’m holding for DevOps. I’m think bespoke SaaS is going to become the norm, and I think companies are going to want to have their own instances of AI running instead of using, for example, OpenAI API to connect to their models. I also think companies are going to start doing more internal devops instead of outsourcing as much. The quality you get from an offshore programmer with Cap Gemini or Infosys is absolutely matched by quality AI models. Lots of companies already use DOCN for quick spin up of sandbox and dev servers. And more small and medium sized businesses will be REQUIRED to have their own cloud instances in the future. Another AI play around infrastructure is Mueller Industries (MLI). This is an industrial with an AMAZING balance sheet, amazing leadership, and industry leading brands in their markets. Almost any aspect of a fluid needing to be moved, they make it. Copper, brass, aluminum. Pipes, rods, valves, ducting, fittings, heat exchangers, manifolds, compressors, list goes on. Also high-tension cables, electrical cables, etc. They sell into a lot of verticals. But the data center build out REQUIRES their profits, both in direct cooling of the machines, as well as cooling of the buildings themselves. The cooler the temperature the more efficiently the GPUs perform. They also play into the re-electrification for EVs, industry 4.0, clean energy, etc. GE Healthcare (GEHC) is another one. Beaten down by tariffs, they are driving head first into utilizing AI to improve their imaging and diagnostic technology. Great value right now in my opinion. Space: I have little trust in Starlink (or Musk). And ASTS is high risk and over priced with honestly no revenue yet. If you want to play this I suggest GSAT or VSAT. My bet is on GSAT. That’s just me. Genomic: I don’t play there, but my way of “playing” in this and other areas that I have no exposure to is by heavily holding Google. Through google’s venture capital group GV I get exposure to a lot of the trends I don’t fully understand. Just my thoughts. Others may disagree. More on reddit.com

Is GitLab Inc. (GTLB) A Good Stock To Buy Now?
March 5, 2026 - As GitLab scales toward $1 billion in revenue, operating leverage from its single-platform architecture could become more visible. Trading near all-time low forward price-to-sales multiples, the stock reflects skepticism that contrasts with improving fundamentals. The bullish strategy centers on a September 2026 $60/$75 call spread, offering defined downside with asymmetric upside should the market re-rate GitLab as AI accelerates—not replaces—enterprise software development.

Everyone's Nervous About GitLab. That's Exactly Why You Should Buy It! | The Motley Fool
April 22, 2026 - There is an old adage to be greedy when others are fearful, and I think that certainly applies to GitLab's stock right now. The company is deeply entrenched within its customer base, and while they tend to be slow-moving, it still has a big eventual opportunity with its Duo AI suite and shift to a hybrid seat plus consumption model. This is a company that generates strong free cash flow with a pristine balance sheet, and the stock should not be trading at an EV/S multiple of 2 times given its growth and positioning.
