What are the latest trends in shower wall tile designs?
Current trends include large-format wall tiles, which minimize grout lines for a sleek look, as well as textured and decorative mosaic tiles that add depth and character to your shower space.
Are smaller tiles better for shower walls?
The choice between smaller and larger tiles for shower walls often comes down to personal preference and specific design needs. Smaller shower wall tiles can be advantageous for installing on curved surfaces, such as shower benches, because they can easily adapt to variations in shape. However, large format shower wall tiles provide a sleek, modern look with fewer grout lines, reducing maintenance and creating a seamless appearance.

Large format wall tiles for beginner (bathroom) or other options?
I’ve been researching this extensively and I’m officially confused. Most of the common info I find online is very unambiguous that porcelain tile is the only thing that should be used on shower walls. However, there are lots of people who also say that it doesn’t matter that much if the waterproofing behind the tile is done correctly, because this is what protects from water damage.
My wife picked out a tile that she absolutely loves (https://www.flooranddecor.com/tile-new-arrivals/ribbed-cornflower-ceramic-polished-tile-101233518.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqAB7PPh3GdXrzqcQKtsM-EqkxWyHWyV_0OvJMFha3lq6uj_wHg). I’m pretty neurotic about long term decisions for the house and I see that this glazed ceramic tile has a >10% absorption rate despite being listed as suitable for shower walls.
Can someone who knows about tile and waterproofing set me straight? I’m losing my mind trying to figure this out.
Thank you kind strangers.
