Using Cupcake Silicone Liners
November 8, 2020 - Make the cupcake batter according to your recipe. Place the liners on a cookie sheet or a muffin tray slipping them into the slots. Mine didn’t fit perfectly because of the shape, so I rather placed them on the cookie sheet.

April 9, 2018 - When you use these do you just put the cups on a tray or do you line the muffin tin with the silicone cup? ... I always put mine in a muffin tin! I haven't tried without one but I imagine the batter would spread out and make them misshapen. ... I put mine on a flat pan and they work just fine. Continue this thread ... I use them on a flat tray and they keep their shape. I actually bought them because I didn't want to buy a muffin tin and it's worked out really well.

hm... I kinda see the paper ones as more eco friendly IMO. I know this isn't the sub for this really but being that I garden I turn all of my food stuffs and paper stuffs into soil. More on reddit.com

Silicone muffin ‘tins’ instructions say: “Butter your pan before using. Do not use cooking spray.” —??
Chemist here. My guess would be that they are worried about a cooking spray additive (probably the propellant) reacting with the silicone surface. This could cause the surface to soften or lose its luster. More on reddit.com

Are silicone cupcake liners actually useful?
I really like them myself. They make the cupcakes have a slightly different shape so they look weird in a box (to me) but that could just be the ones I have! The base is slightly narrower than a paper liner, and they don't seem as stable so if they are leaving my house I just use paper, but I make alot of protien muffins and they stick to paper pretty badly but pop right out of the silicone. silicone baking cups/muffin liners… are they safe? if yes, are there any reliable brands to purchase from?
Smoking or releasing chemicals is probably due to having an oven that is too hot. 425 might be the top of the range that is safe for a silicone pan, and even that might get too hot depending on how your oven cycles and how accurate the dial is. And you absolutely CANNOT use the broiler element! I bake banana nut muffins in a pan that makes 24 mini-muffins, I have two of these pans from Amazon (Walfos is the brand, I think.) These are baked at 350. Every type of pan they make has people who will say using it will leach chemicals into your bread or the air in your house. I've heard that about cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, anything non-stick coated and silicone. More on reddit.com
