Don’t overbuild it like that. The slats are supposed to act like springs to make it more comfortable, there should be some flex to them. Are those 2x4s milled down a little? That’s way too much material. It’s just a waste of material and makes the bed worse. Lots and lots of 1x2s or 1x3s are fine if they’re spaced right. (The more slats there are spaced closer together will make a firmer bed, whereas fewer spread out a bit further will make it softer. You don’t even have to make a frame for the slats. Just have ledges to support them on the sides and the center support, then assemble all the slats stapled together with nylon webbing so you can roll them all up when you need to move the bed. No loose pieces, but also very compact. And you don’t want a permanent bed. You need to build it assuming that it will move a few times, so it needs to be easy to assemble/disassemble. You need to make it modular. The slats can be 1 “piece”. The frame can be one large awkward piece if you’re into that. But the night stands need to separate from the headboard. When it’s that big.
