What to Wear to a Garden Wedding for Guests and the Couple ❤️ Blog Wezoree
August 21, 2025 - If the invitation says semi-formal, a tie or bow tie is optional—but if you choose one, keep it simple and textural, such as cotton, knit, or even a subtle floral print. A pocket square or boutonniere with fresh greens can finish the look with a natural touch.Avoid dark leather dress shoes with slippery soles. Instead, choose suede loafers, brogues, or clean, minimal dress sneakers in a neutral tone that won’t clash with a more relaxed ensemble. ... When attending a garden wedding, aim for a look that’s polished yet comfortably suited to outdoor terrain.

r/weddingplanning on Reddit: Garden party wedding groom attire
July 10, 2024 -
Hello! I’m trying to decide what to wear to my wedding. It’ll be warm and mid day/early evening with a garden party vibe. Is a tux too dressy? I’ve tried on colored suits and I feel like a clue character in them, I don’t wanna do anything too basic either, I wanna sorta stand out from the guests. But is a tux too stand out? Is it okay since I’m the groom? Any other suggestions? Right now I’m thinking like a light ish blue. Not dumb and dumber but more like a heathered/robins egg. I’m all over the place lol someone help! TIA

Navy is a classic, goes well with green tones, and you can wear it again.

Traditionally a tuxedo isn't worn until the evening, if that makes a difference for you. But I don't see why you have to come up with some oddball suit color. If you're buying, you'll get little use out of a light blue suit, and if you're renting, it's going to look like prom night. Why not just wear a nice navy suit, which is like the equivalent of a little black dress for a woman? You can use a tie and a boutonniere to bring in whatever colors you all have chosen.

Do the groom and groomsmen wear the same thing?
If you stick to tradition, the groomsmen’s attire should mimic or at least be very similar to the groom. More and more grooms are bucking tradition and mixing styles for a unique look; just make sure they all stick to the same overall feel and level of formality. With varied patterns and colors among your groomsmen, as the groom, you should still differentiate yourself to avoid looking like a generic guest. Stand out with a darker or brighter suit than the rest of your group and have the groomsmen wear colors that complement the bridesmaids.

Should I get my outfit tailored?
Your outfit will live on for years to come in your wedding photos, so make sure that you look your absolute best. If you purchase your attire, you’re better off getting it tailored to fit your body perfectly, so you aren’t swimming in an ill-fitted suit. Tailoring your tux or suit also allows you to add in small elements to fit your theme or even stitch in a favorite memory or lines from your vows.

When should I start shopping for my suit/tux?
Planning a wedding is never easy. We always tend to focus on larger aspects like securing a venue and catering, while the groom’s attire falls to the back burner. While it may not be a very time-consuming task, don’t wait until the last minute to get your tuxedo or suit. For custom fittings, we recommend starting the process at least 3 months ahead of the big day. You’ll want to have plenty of time for any alterations and shipping, if needed, during the always-busy wedding season.
