I am a 2D motion designer looking to improve my craft by learning frame by frame and C4D to get into a nice studio, I don't have the time to deal with a full on course from school of motion (I did 2 and they are very time intensive, also pricey), do you all think skillshare could be a good alternative? I would just like more structure - I learnt most of what I know by YouTube and it was a bit overwhelming to begin with, and then when I took the school of motion and domestika courses they were more helpful as you were guided through. As I want to widen my horizons I thought getting a more versatile platform would be best.
Is it worth it in this case? I read there is a bit of a bad rep of skillshare online regarding pricing and customer service, so wanted to know what you all think or if you have any other suggestion! Thanks!
Thinking about subscribing to Skillshare — worth it? Hey everyone, I’m considering getting a Skillshare subscription but wanted to hear from people who’ve used it. Is it actually worth the money? Are the classes high quality? I’m mainly looking to use blender to create 3d designs that I can later use to print.
Also ,What free course would you recommend for someone who uses blender to create and modify existing designs to later 3d print on a personal and low commercial level.?

I’ve been wanting to try it to try and improve my writing after going so long w/o honing my craft. Has anyone on this sub used it? Did it help, and if so, what classes do you recommend?
My youtube earnings have decreased a lot, I've read that many are going through the same situation, so I want to start a new project.
I like skillshare because I love making educational content, this is how I started on youtube, but I don't know if I can be succesfull on Skillshare starting from scratch, I mean I don't want to promote it from my youtube channel because, I speak Spanish on my channel but on Skillshare I want to make English content, mainly because english content pays more.
So here are my questions:
-
Can you build an skillshare channel without external promotion and only relaying on skillshare itself?
-
What is the earning potential?
Thanks
I'm conflicted because Skillshare supports a lot of my favorite content creators, who deserve to make a living. But due to Skillshare's practices, like price gouging the monthly subscription, to making it hard to navigate the website without a sub, all the way to not giving refunds to people who have been wrongfully charged. I don't like them that much.
In a way I feel like it has the money to advertise the way they do, but the convenience and benefits expressed in most sponsorships don't seem to be the consumer's experience. The only people who seem to gain anything are people who literally know nothing about something. SS will provide really short "lessons" that will give you the bare bones.
The "classes" as they like to consider them are really short! I know you can be short and to the point but how much can you really learn about animation in 56 minutes? Some are a little longer but many are even shorter! It's more complicated than that. In my opinion, it provides the preface to any hobby/skill.
On YouTube, people have made careers providing more detailed information and that information is accessible to people ad free or not. You don't need an account to view, and it's free without premium. Unless the YouTube puts certain videos behind a paywall (like patreon for example).
I took a business "course" on their once and it was like...okay...100 a year for this lack of depth? It was like 40 minutes total and had me fill out a form with my ideas on it. "How to Start a Small Business"...that's all I need? 40 minutes and I'm good to go? For 100 plus a year, I feel like I should get more than that. It was just so basic, I was taken aback. I learned nothing new...I actually wasted my time. It's not very information rich. Most of that stuff I feel like you'd learn just starting.
No offense to anyone who does find value. Nothing wrong with being a beginner. But for the price tag, I have no idea how they stay in business with such basic courses. Even YouTubers who have SS classes have made more in depth content on their own YT channels, like Jazza or Thomas Frank for example. If you are a beginner, you will not find it useful for very long. You'll eventually go to YouTube to get more in-depth and thorough information...
Idk. Something's off and not quite right about this company. To each their own, but I just wanted to complain.
I have never had somebody to teach me art in a professional way. Now i have decided that i really want to learn and i was wondering if subscribing to Skillshare would be a good idea. I would like to hear the experiences of those who have/have had this app, did you actually see improvement? Are there enough lessons? Are the teachers better than the typical teachers on youtube? After a year or so, do you still use the app?
Thank you in advance for your help!
I found it lacking. A lot of it was lesser quality than what you can find for free on Youtube and the UI was a mess. If there's a specific artist that you like that is offering courses it might be worth it, but I paid for a year, and ended up regretting it.
I enjoyed it, but I did forget to cancel and paid for 2 months that I didn't use very much. It's worth a look, for sure. I recommend the Andy J. Pizza modules!
Any recommendations for skill share courses/ classes (or anywhere else)? I know there are a million out there so I thought coming here see if any particularly stood out to people would be easier than trying to comb through them clueless
I see a lot of youtubers that I follow suggest that an account there is worth it and maybe even essential for some great tips and courses. Do you use them? Are they good?
’ve been wanting to pick up a new skill and i keep seeing people mention Skillshare courses, but i’ve never actually taken one myself. i’m trying to figure out if it’s really worth diving into or if it’s one of those things that looks helpful at first but ends up feeling too surface level
honestly i’m the type who starts learning something, gets stuck, and then ends up jumping between random guides online. this time i want something a bit more structured so i don’t drift around too much. i noticed some courses come with projects, but i’m not sure if those actually help or just feel like busywork
if you’ve taken a Skillshare course, what made it helpful for you. did the instructor matter a lot or was it more about the way the lessons were laid out. did you actually finish the course or did it lose your interest halfway through
i’m also curious if the community part is active at all. like do people actually give feedback or is it basically empty. i’m hoping to find something that gives me a bit of direction without feeling too rigid
just want to hear real experiences so i don’t waste time on something that won’t stick
since the youtube creative community is bombarded with its ads i i thought i should check the site out ,( i am a student and i needed some quality courses to improve my art skills) although it seems pretty scammy , you know sponsoring everyone (reminds you of raID SHADOW LEGENDS ). are there any alternatives ? i need help .
I've been thinking about it the whole day. I'm hesitating to subscribe for it. It could boost my career as entrepreneur. I do creative work and learning creative skills is essential. I need to know what you guys know about skillshare what are your reviews on it. Is it worth the price ? There are controversies. Some say it's amazing, some say it's a scam. I know it may not be the best subreddit to share this post on, but I believe that people with entrepreneur mindset can truly add value which will help me decide if I pay for the subscription or not.
was featured as a sponsor in the latest Kurgesatz video and I checked it out. Looks really promising, but it's around ten dollars per month. There's a free month period but you still have to put in your credit card number, which I don't feel comfortable.
There seems to be a lot of very different courses (photography, discipline in the morning, even how to do perfect gift wraps), I checked out a few and it looks great but I'm worried on the overall quality since they're not "really" teachers.
Anyway what do you think about the service?
I am desperately trying to find any actually beneficial material for learning how to draw and paint digitally, but I can only seem to find cookie crumbs of advice. A lot of times videos even seem to fast forward through various steps and end on some other random type of info. If just becomes hard to absorb information. But maybe I’m just not finding the right videos? I don’t know.
What do you folks think?
i guess a month ago i subscribed to some course thru skillshare? idk i was very fixated on learning about something specific & i must’ve started a free trial for something but i cannot remember what, can’t find any emails from whenever i signed up.
last night i was charged $165 for this annual subscription & now i’m down to basically nothing in my account as i am without a job. i emailed them as soon as i was charged and again this morning and have yet to get a response. usually certain services are good with getting back to ppl whenever someone reaches out, so i’m very much not pleased with this. does anyone have any tips or maybe a rough estimate on how long it takes for them to get back to their customers?
edit: im always surprised whenever i get a new comment or dm from someone having the same issues i had as this post is relatively old, but i do not remember how i resolved this. i would like to say that i reached out to their support and got a refund/some sort of compensation, but it was so long ago. i’m sorry to anyone experiencing these things, skillshare is a scam as far as im concerned & not something i would waste my time or money with ever again.
I'm curious about learning art skills and techniques purely through watching videos and pre-recorded lessons. Besides one-on-one instruction and real time criticism, what am i missing out on by not taking classes? Genuinely would like to know, I don't have much of a choice as of right now but someday in the future I may take some classes
I'm looking for some classes to expand my knowledge and see what things I can do to improve and be more professional! I get a lot of ads for Skilshare in design and freelancing but I don't know if it's worth it... Any tips? Thank you!
I've had insights to record a course on skillshare as a passive income stream, but before I being I'm curious about what monetization looks like if you're a beginner like me.
Obviously, I don't expect to make thousands in the first month. Still, I'd love a rundown of what your own journey looked like re: earnings with these platforms, what brought you the most success, did you direct your own audience to skillshare or did you just sell off the platform's audience?

I'm a interaction desing student, and I'm trying to improve in some skills is skillshare worth it for students? Or I'm good with youtube tutorials and stuff
Thanks in advance for your advice
