I am a 2D motion designer looking to improve my craft by learning frame by frame and C4D to get into a nice studio, I don't have the time to deal with a full on course from school of motion (I did 2 and they are very time intensive, also pricey), do you all think skillshare could be a good alternative? I would just like more structure - I learnt most of what I know by YouTube and it was a bit overwhelming to begin with, and then when I took the school of motion and domestika courses they were more helpful as you were guided through. As I want to widen my horizons I thought getting a more versatile platform would be best.

Is it worth it in this case? I read there is a bit of a bad rep of skillshare online regarding pricing and customer service, so wanted to know what you all think or if you have any other suggestion! Thanks!

So I've wanted to become an artist for a very, very long time. I even went to a drawing school (and a good one). Still, my art is a massive, 100% failure. It has no redeeming quality to it. I'm not going to extend on why, that's not why I'm posting.
What I would like to know is whether it's worth paying for Skillshare or not, if I want to improve and draw something that doesn't look like it was made by a 5-year-old.
I really need to start everything from scratch here.

My youtube earnings have decreased a lot, I've read that many are going through the same situation, so I want to start a new project.

I like skillshare because I love making educational content, this is how I started on youtube, but I don't know if I can be succesfull on Skillshare starting from scratch, I mean I don't want to promote it from my youtube channel because, I speak Spanish on my channel but on Skillshare I want to make English content, mainly because english content pays more.

So here are my questions:

1. Can you build an skillshare channel without external promotion and only relaying on skillshare itself?

2. What is the earning potential?

I see a lot of youtubers that I follow suggest that an account there is worth it and maybe even essential for some great tips and courses. Do you use them? Are they good?

I have never had somebody to teach me art in a professional way. Now i have decided that i really want to learn and i was wondering if subscribing to Skillshare would be a good idea. I would like to hear the experiences of those who have/have had this app, did you actually see improvement? Are there enough lessons? Are the teachers better than the typical teachers on youtube? After a year or so, do you still use the app?

Hello everyone, I was wondering what your thoughts were on Skillshare and if anyone here has used it. I received a 50% student discount code from Skillshare for an annual subscription, thus making it relatively cheap. I am curious if anyone here has experience with the platform, if they have experience with other sources of knowledge, and if they would recommend it for semi-beginners. I have some experience but I mainly do it as a hobby, at least for now.

Also, if you have experience with Skillshare: which courses would you recommend?

Any recommendations for skill share courses/ classes (or anywhere else)? I know there are a million out there so I thought coming here see if any particularly stood out to people would be easier than trying to comb through them clueless

I'm conflicted because Skillshare supports a lot of my favorite content creators, who deserve to make a living. But due to Skillshare's practices, like price gouging the monthly subscription, to making it hard to navigate the website without a sub, all the way to not giving refunds to people who have been wrongfully charged. I don't like them that much.

In a way I feel like it has the money to advertise the way they do, but the convenience and benefits expressed in most sponsorships don't seem to be the consumer's experience. The only people who seem to gain anything are people who literally know nothing about something. SS will provide really short "lessons" that will give you the bare bones.

The "classes" as they like to consider them are really short! I know you can be short and to the point but how much can you really learn about animation in 56 minutes? Some are a little longer but many are even shorter! It's more complicated than that. In my opinion, it provides the preface to any hobby/skill.

On YouTube, people have made careers providing more detailed information and that information is accessible to people ad free or not. You don't need an account to view, and it's free without premium. Unless the YouTube puts certain videos behind a paywall (like patreon for example).

I took a business "course" on their once and it was like...okay...100 a year for this lack of depth? It was like 40 minutes total and had me fill out a form with my ideas on it. "How to Start a Small Business"...that's all I need? 40 minutes and I'm good to go? For 100 plus a year, I feel like I should get more than that. It was just so basic, I was taken aback. I learned nothing new...I actually wasted my time. It's not very information rich. Most of that stuff I feel like you'd learn just starting.

No offense to anyone who does find value. Nothing wrong with being a beginner. But for the price tag, I have no idea how they stay in business with such basic courses. Even YouTubers who have SS classes have made more in depth content on their own YT channels, like Jazza or Thomas Frank for example. If you are a beginner, you will not find it useful for very long. You'll eventually go to YouTube to get more in-depth and thorough information...

’ve been wanting to pick up a new skill and i keep seeing people mention Skillshare courses, but i’ve never actually taken one myself. i’m trying to figure out if it’s really worth diving into or if it’s one of those things that looks helpful at first but ends up feeling too surface level

honestly i’m the type who starts learning something, gets stuck, and then ends up jumping between random guides online. this time i want something a bit more structured so i don’t drift around too much. i noticed some courses come with projects, but i’m not sure if those actually help or just feel like busywork

if you’ve taken a Skillshare course, what made it helpful for you. did the instructor matter a lot or was it more about the way the lessons were laid out. did you actually finish the course or did it lose your interest halfway through

i’m also curious if the community part is active at all. like do people actually give feedback or is it basically empty. i’m hoping to find something that gives me a bit of direction without feeling too rigid

I paint pet portraits, realism, currently acrylic but want to elevate my color mixing knowledge, techniques and eventually learn oils. Can anyone tell me of there’s a better place for these types of classes than skillshare? I like how skillshare will have stuff to help me with social media marketing etc as well but open to getting two subscriptions so I can really elevate my actual paintings. Thank u!!!

since the youtube creative community is bombarded with its ads i i thought i should check the site out ,( i am a student and i needed some quality courses to improve my art skills) although it seems pretty scammy , you know sponsoring everyone (reminds you of raID SHADOW LEGENDS ). are there any alternatives ? i need help .
