I've got my AFF at Skydive California and it's been my home DZ since then. I've recently been to Perris and it's amazing. It's like comparing a little neighborhood toy store to a Disney Land. Both DZs have great instructors, but it's a lot more fun at Perris due to amenities. Whatever DZ you choose make sure to get some time in the tunnel, it'll help a lot. Rental gear is part of the game until you buy your own gear. It's a difficult cost for all new jumpers. Perris you get off the school gear and go to Gold State Gear where you have your choice of canopy and container. It's a cool program. Elsinore also uses gold state gear but I think the free stuff is the schools gear. I might be wrong there and I'm sure an elsinore jumpers can expand on it. I would honestly suggest just choosing the one you want to jump at most of the time. Perris has some real benefits as a low jump number jumper with their LO program. The PSP program also has more instructional jumps which helps to better set you up for after the A license. If you are all about cost then elsinore will usually be the choice because they are always a little cheaper. I personally prefer the otters over the caravans. It's roomier and you can almost stand up in them. I also find the calls tend to be more on time at perris while the 40 min call becomes 60+ at elsinore many times. Perris also tends to be a bit stricter on the rules although if josh catches you messing up bad at elsinore you can still expect an earful. Everytime I see "financial reasons" and similar comments, I have to bring up that this sport is expensive. Make sure you can afford the school, rentals, a helmet, an altimeter, some tunnel time if needed and probably have the cash on hand for used gear once licensed. You also want money to buy the ticket packs after you are licensed so that you can keep jumping and stay current. You should also account for those future goals like WS or learning to freefly well. WS will incur additional costs for the suit and instruction. Really learning to FF will mean tunnel time and likely some camps. It's not a cheap sport so make sure you really understand the costs.
