Skydiving in Los Angeles
I would suggest learning at Perris. It costs a little more but they set you up for success with the tunnel. Then once licensed, you also can make use of the LO program for free coaching as you learn more jumping belly in a group to learn more skills. Once you build that belly foundation, then go to elsinore. Both elsinore and Perris are good and just a few minutes apart. As a new jumper, I just feel like Perris offers more. Once you get that solid belly foundation and want to do more FF or angle jumps then elsinore tends to have a bit of an edge. There is no DZ in long beach. The only real beach views for a DZ are at oceanside which does not teach students due to the small landing area. Santa Barbara is also close to the beach but not an option. Elsinore has lake beach views but as a student, the views are not your top priority. More on reddit.com

Anyone gone Skydiving nearby? Some advice on prices and locations please.

Skydive Coastal California was good, based in Camarillo. I think we got a deal through TravelZoo or Groupon, I don't remember. http://www.yelp.com/biz/skydive-coastal-california-camarillo

Prices going up at the Parachute Center in Lodi

I thought the whole point of going to that place and putting up with Bill's eccentric personality and horseshit canopy rules was the cheap jump tickets...

Oh well, maybe with the extra cash they'll pay for proper tandem training for their TIs.

r/SkyDiving on Reddit: Skydiving in Los Angeles
October 18, 2023 -

Hi all -

I did my first tandem jump in like June of this year, here in New York so I am a bit familiar w/ what goes on I suppose. I would of course prefer a tandem event.

Going to Los Angeles, Cali soon and would like to go skydiving near the Pacific, and if not, the general LA/SD area or whichever local aficionados are recommending.

I'll be able to jump midweek so it looks like some results may be off the table but I'm not sure.

I've done some googling and the top results are Elsinore, Taft, and also Perris.

It looks like Perris has a Long Beach drop zone, when thinking about a beachy land/ocean split view, would this be my preferred location ya think?

I made a polly poll so if people want to vote that'd be cool too - if you have a specific drop zone maybe drop a comment if you have the time!

Uh...thanks for any help and here are the links to the sites I found! =)

Elsinore: https://www.skydiveelsinore.com/

Taft: https://www.skydivetaft.com/

Perris: https://skydiveperris.com/prices/first-jump/

Thanks again all!!

I personally prefer Perris for a training environment, and for newer jumpers they also have weekday load organizers to help you get into group jumps fast once you get your license. Elsinore has LO's too but they mostly seem to be weekend/events only. Perris seems to be more consistent with student training during the week from what I have noticed in my personal experience. Elsinore is more scenic, but neither of those DZ's will really have ocean views. Also when getting licensed you wont really be focusing on the views as much as trying to not die yet. but really you cant go wrong with either, they are both professional highly respected DZ's with talent everywhere.
