How much is it to get skydive certified to go solo
You don't want to just go solo you want to jump with others. That requires an A license. Most dzs have some sort of A license package that costs $2.5k-3k+. If you have difficulties with freefall then you may need tunnel time which is extra. You might also need to pay to redo a level which can cost ~$250-300. Coming out of AFF, you will need a decent helmet and altimeter which will run you $800+. Then there are other fees like rental gear, gas, food, etc which add up. Once you are licensed you probably also want to buy a used rig which is $4500+. So in short, you are probably looking at $10k to get started. Once licensed, it is $25-30 per jump. If you really want to advance you are also going to be looking at tunnel time and coaching. You will also periodically need new gear like a smaller canopy or perhaps a specialized WS canopy depending on what you prefer to do. There are other miscellaneous things like coaching, repacks, gear upkeep, travel, etc. In short, have a bit of expendable cash if you want to make this a hobby. More on reddit.com

Getting certified for solo jumping

You're asking this question in r/skydiving, so expect the overwhelming majority will tell you it's worth it. If you're in the US, look up the AFF program at the dropzone nearest you. To get fully licensed you need an A license (at least 25 jumps). That won't really be shorter than a week, depending on weather, and will cost you on average 2500 to 3000 usd.

Is it worth gettin certified to jump solo if you don’t plan on being an instructor?

Sure it is. I had been jumping for 14 years before I even got my coach rating.
