Also, since you’ve had your SN bed for so long, you qualify for an upgrade discount we’re running right now. You get extra cash off the mattresses plus the flexfit 2 is $200 off. Hope this helps! Edit to add: they’re more expensive partly due to brand, partly because it’s fully made of steel, and partly because it’s made to work with our beds. Sorry to hear that. For anyone reading this remember that bed comfort is entirely unique to the individual and your experience may vary. I’ve had a sleep number for a month now and I absolutely love it. I was hesitant with all the claims of “glorified air mattress” and the delivered product being lower quality than the store, but I found neither to be true. For what it’s worth, when I replaced my spring mattress of 10 years a year ago, I bought a nectar memory foam bed in the box which absolutely destroyed my body. I mean destroyed it. Then I swapped that out for a hybrid Serta, which wasn’t a whole lot better. Finally I came to sleep number, and I feel amazing everyday! More on reddit.com

We have an 11 year old Sleep Number mattress that we have been quite happy with over the years. Time has come to upgrade it, and we want to get an adjustable base as well. And this is where the things get interesting.
SleepNumber's split king base (FlexFit2) runs about $3000. And it is nice, fit and finish and all. But a comparable base from Blissful Nights or Sven & Son is about $1200-1400, from Costco/Sleep Science is $1000.
So, for those of you who own comparable adjustable bases:
- Am I missing anything? Or SleepNumber's base is marked up purely due to brand name?
- Does SleepNumber base ever go on sale?

They do have a special mounting hardware, but you could simply use a bar at the end of the base to keep the mattress in place. Do yourself a favor, OP, and get a less expensive base.

My husband and I plan to get a new bed. We’re looking at the split king. My husband prefers hard mattress I like soft. My husband snores like a fog horn and I can’t sleep. My body can’t take the bed we’re in currently and I’ve stumbled upon the sleep number bed. We’ve both said the price is worth it if it truly helps us both sleep and makes our overall living better. Now my question is, is it worth it? We’re looking at just under $10,000 between the mattress, frame, and sheets. Did you find your life/sleep improved with the mattress? Is there something you’d do differently?

I have an i8 sleep number bed, I don't think I could sleep on another kind of bed, honestly. I'm always surprised when I see all the people hating their sleep number beds. I have autoimmune issues and lots of pain in my back, neck, hips, etc., and being able to adjust the bed depending on how I'm feeling is so helpful for my pain. I can't speak to the snoring, but it definitely has helped me pain-wise. I also had really good customer service from them, just my experience.
