Hi everyone,
Going to my ortho and asking them for help with my wires has been embarrassing. My wire keeps sliding out of the bracket in the back of my bottom teeth. It's happened like 5-6 times now. Has anyone had a persistent problem like this? Does anyone have any solutions?

I had this same problem it goes away when you get thicker wires. Not sure what will help in the meantime tho sorry

hey, would really appreciate any advice on this. kinda stressing out a bit and my next appointment’s still more than a week away.
for anyone who doesn’t know, i’m on self-ligating braces, which means the wire isn’t held tightly in place and instead slides along the brackets to move my teeth.
i think the wire might’ve slid too much, because it popped out of the bracket on my left molar and is now sticking out annoyingly on the right side.
just wondering, is this normal? and will it mess up my treatment by waiting about 11 days? my country’s in the middle of an election right now so i’m not even sure if the clinic’s able to shift my appointment forward to fix it.

Sounds like the bracket door may have opened up. The wire sits behind little doors that slide down to open. If this is open the wire can pop out. Just push the wire back in and push up the door to close it. There are YouTube videos to show you how to do this.

I had the wire shift to one side like that several times earlier in my treatment. It happened enough that my ortho told me I can slide the wire back into a centered position myself if it moves easily enough. I used a pair of mosquito forceps to grip the wire and gently slide it to one side. If you do try this, please note that it should move pretty easily, and don't force it. Better to wait for an appointment than risk breaking a bracket or hurting yourself.
